It was a wonderful evening at last night’s Spring Party: Strings on High! Guests enjoyed beautiful music from the Nova String Quartet, a delicious spread of food and drinks, and a special performance by our SWI Music Education Scholarship recipient, Daniel Cannon. The evening was topped off by honoring Judy Davis for her many years of dedicated service to the Council Bluffs Guild of the Omaha Symphony. 💫

Plus, the Council Bluffs Guild presented a check for $8,000 to the Omaha Symphony which directly supports music programming and outreach in Southwest Iowa! 🎶

Last week, more than 1,900 southwest Iowa PreK–3rd grade students experienced the Omaha Symphony’s Mission Imagination program at the IWCC Arts Center on April 7&8. Participating schools included Rue, Roosevelt, Longfellow, Lewis & Clark, Hoover, Carter Lake, Franklin, College View, Edison, Bloomer (CBCSD), along with Titan Hill, Saint Albert, Glenwood, AHSTW, Tri‑Center, Underwood, and Waymakers Co‑Op homeschool.

Mission Imagination combines a child’s love of storytelling with the power of symphonic music in an up-close and playful setting. The Pirate's Plunder was an adventure of the daring Captain Canon who sets sail on a high-seas musical adventure alongside the Omaha Symphony! With the map in hand and the fabled Bizetbeard's Baton in sight, the crew explored the wonders of pitch, tempo, dynamics, and rhythm. This interactive concert encourages young buccaneers and budding musicians to discover the treasure of music!
