Mission: Promote Health and Prosperity for future generations. Vision: Design, develop and promote a county-wide trail system in Pottawattamie County. The group will be seeking public participation and input to help develop the plan.

Our Nebraska neighbors continue to develop trails. The FEVR trail will connect Hooper to Fremont when completed.

Their Trail Ribbon Cutting is June 12, 2026 09:00 AM CDT in Hooper.

A nearly three-mile stretch of trail in Hooper will officially open this week where the Fremont and Elkhorn Valley Railroad once was. The plan is to eventually use the railway's path to connect with Fremont. FULL STORY ⬇️

Golden Hills RC&D is seeking a Trails Coordinator to lead the development, maintenance, and promotion of recreational mixed-use trails for Pottawattamie County as part of our outdoor recreation and tourism team. This position works closely with the Pottawattamie County Trails Association (PCTA), County Conservation, local governments, and regional partners to implement collaborative, long-term vision for trails and bike-related initiatives.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about outdoor recreation, active transportation, and community development with experience in project planning, coalition management, and public engagement.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until June 1, 2026.
