Stars Scholarship Program

Say it again for those in the back 📢

Did you know that 24 % of undergraduates in fall 2023 were age 25 or older 🤯🤯🤯meaning nearly one in four college students is building school around life, not life around school? 🤔

And almost 73 % of college students today have at least one nontraditional characteristic (like working while enrolled, being financially independent, or having dependents).

At STARS, that’s exactly who we serve.

🔹 In 2024–25, 86% of our scholars were working parents
🔹 Average age was 32
🔹 Average of 2 children per household

You’re not an outlier.
You’re part of a growing majority 🫶🏽🫶🏽and you deserve a program built for your reality, not someone else’s.👏🏽

✅ You work
✅ You care for family

And yet you 🫵🏽want the same dignity and opportunity: a degree, better pay, and to show your children you can make change.💪🏾

🌺Introducing Bloom🌺

Bloom is a new extension of Kids & Company. This pilot program will offer before- and after-school childcare designed specifically for elementary students who are enrolled in specialized programs within the Council Bluffs Community School District.

This program is made possible through an important partnership with MICAH House and the Florence Lakin Child Development Center. Together, this collaboration will provide the space, expertise, and shared commitment needed to expand childcare options for families who often have limited access to care that meets their child’s needs.

The Bloom pilot program will serve a limited number of students beginning in August 2026.

Families who are interested in learning more are encouraged to complete a brief inquiry form (linked in the comments below) to receive additional information about the program and eligibility.
