Nonprofit Spotlight🌟 Firefly Kids
💚 Firefly is dedicated to empowering women, children, and families across Western Iowa through education, wellness, and family support services. Guided by the belief that every person has the potential to thrive, Firefly works alongside families to build stronger foundations, brighter futures, and healthier communities.
Through a variety of programs and services, Firefly helps parents become their child’s first and most important teacher. Serving both urban and rural communities from the Council Bluffs and Walnut offices, Firefly provides support in homes, schools, shelters, and community settings to ensure children enter school healthy, safe, and ready to learn.
By the numbers:
🏠Over 100,000 home visits provided in Pottawattamie County over the past 30 years
😁Nearly 10,000 in-school dental screenings conducted through the I-Smile @ School program
📖Focused on improving literacy outcomes, as 30% of children in Pottawattamie County are not reading at grade level by the end of 3rd grade, with the goal of helping every child read proficiently by 3rd grade
