We’ve changed it up a bit for this year’s reading component of our free Summer Reading activities! For every two books read (or read to them), kids who sign up get to spin the wheel and pick from one of the four prize boxes! Boxes A and B are loaded with a variety of fun toys and games, plus we have a Plushie box, filled with cute, cuddly plush animals, and a Dino box, chock-full of dinosaur-related plushies, games and more! Thanks to Ms. Krista, library assistant, for the creative graphics on the prize wheel, and to Ms. Amy for assembling it! It’s not too late to sign up; one form is good for both the reading and weekly program components! Programs continue through July 8; the reading component continues until mid-August!

Mark your calendar for next Saturday, June 13 — don’t miss our “Stitched Stories” Quilt Show at First Presbyterian Church in Coudersport! Approximately 70 quilts — yes, 70! — in every pattern and color — will be on display! From traditional — dating back to 1850 — to colorful contemporary patterns, there will be quilts to amaze every visitor! And, attendees can vote for the People’s Choice, from all of the judged and display entries! A number of historical quilts, with accompanying histories, will be featured, courtesy of the Potter County Historical Society, and we’ll also be showing off the America250 project quilts created by some talented Oswayo Valley High School seniors, under the tutelage of Oswayo Valley Senior Center members. Stop in, enjoy a light lunch (by donation), and check out the amazing variety of pieces by generations of skilled and creative area quilters — past and current. Take part in the silent auction for a lovely new quilt made and donated by Brenda Bonczar, and try to win one of the quilting-related raffle baskets! Admission is $5.00 (free to entrants in judged categories). All proceeds benefit Coudersport Public Library’s general operating fund.

Tomorrow (Friday, June 5) is the deadline! If you’re planning to enter a quilt for judging or display at our Stitched Stories Quilt Show on June 13, we MUST have your entry form in hand by 5:00 pm. Entered quilts may be dropped off at the Library from Monday, June 8 until Thursday, June 11 at noon, but forms are required by Library closing time on June 5. We have sooo many lovely and interesting quilts to display — don’t miss the chance to let yours be among them!

Some absolutely stunning quilts will be on display at our June 13 “Stitched Stories” Quilt Show! If you’re planning to enter yours, for judging or display, now’s the time! Only FOUR DAYS remain for entry form submission! Friday, June 5 at 5 pm is the deadline! All entry form submissions —over the counter and via USPS —must be received by that time. Stop in at the Library or visit our website, coudersportlibrary.org, if you need a form. Let others enjoy and appreciate your creation, or that heirloom that you treasure — don’t keep them folded up in the closet, unseen!

We’re hearing lots of buzz about our “Stitched Stories” Quilt Show, coming up on Saturday, June 13! We’re thrilled that folks from near and far are so excited about this event! Quilters and quilt owners: LESS THAN ONE WEEK remains to submit your entry forms for judged and display quilts! Space is rapidly filling up! All entry forms must be received no later than Friday, June 5. Local businesses and individuals who wish to be listed in the program booklet as sponsors for this popular event should also get in touch before June 5. Please let us know if you need a sponsorship form. We’re working on a fantastic program book, which will give details on all of the quilts, including some commemorative and historic pieces that will be on display! There’s a role for everyone in this America250 event, which is expected to draw attendees from near and far! Don’t miss out!
Show date is Saturday, June 13 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, at First United Presbyterian Church of Coudersport. All proceeds benefit the Coudersport Public Library general operating fund.

The list of individuals and businesses supporting our upcoming “Stitched Stories” Quilt Show grows substantially every day! In addition to colorful displays of contemporary judged quilts and vintage/heirloom quilts, the event features a silent auction for this wonderful and unique quilt, made and donated by Brenda Bonczar of Coudersport. Brenda is one of those folks who really knocks it out of the park for us! She volunteers as a Story Hour leader — inspiring a love of reading and imagination in our youngest patrons — and has also made and donated several beautiful quilts for fundraisers over the years. We’re very grateful to her for sharing her expertise, talent and creativity for the benefit of the Library and its patrons! This striking quilt is currently on display at the Library, and on June 13 will be moved to First United Presbyterian Church for the quilt show. Silent auction bids are now being accepted at the Library; bidding will continue until 3:00 pm on June 13. Highest bid at auction’s close takes the quilt! We’re going to miss this lovey piece when it leaves the Library! All proceeds benefit Coudersport Public Library’s general operating fund.

Believe it or not, Summer Reading 2026 begins in less than one week! It's time to sign up; don't miss the first program!

Free weekly programs for ages kindergarten to tween begin on Tuesday, June 2! Programs begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Park Pavilion, or at the Library in inclement weather. Participants can also read books to win prizes throughout the summer!

Some of those fascinating stories, along with the artistry and history of the pieces, will be revealed at Stitched Stories: A Quilt Show, on Saturday, June 13! This event is being held in conjunction with Potter County’s America250 festivities!

If you’re a quilter planning to enter items for judging, or an owner wishing to display a beloved heirloom quilt, take note: ENTRY DEADLINE IS ONLY TEN DAYS FROM TODAY!!! Detailed entry forms are available at area public libraries and sewing shops, the Potter County Artisan Center, and online at coudersportlibrary.org (click on the link in the homepage article). Final date to enter is Friday, June 5; entered quilts may be dropped off at the Library during the week of June 8.
