Today during the AZ District 2 quarterly meeting the winners at District Level of the Patriots Pen and Voice of Democracy winners were announced;
PATRIOTS PEN
1st Place Daphne Hammer, Post 1709 Flagstaff. AZ
2nd Place Maxim Thorncock, Post 1709, Flagstaff AZ
3rd Place Diamond H Wilson, Post 7400. Cottonwood, AZ
Our 1st place Patriots Pen winner won third place in the Districts Patriots Pen Essay Contest. We accepted a Certificate and check for $100.00 for Diamond. Pictured are the other winners, District.
VOICE OF DEMOCRACY
1st Place Ellie R Scott. Post 1709, Flagstaff, AZ
2nd Place Taylor T Thomas, Post 10227, Prescott Valley, AZ
3rd Place Alayna M Avila, VFW 12128, Williams, AZ
District Commander Harry Hart, and Department of AZ Commander Gregg Harrelson. Present the Awards which have a Certificate of Award and a check.
The two first place winner's Essays will advance to Department of AZ Essay Competition.
If one or both should win this competion, they will be invited to the Department winter conference in January, 2026 and advance to the National Competition and have a chance to win a scholarship of $15,000.00 for Patriots Pen and $35,000.00 for Voice of Democracy.
Nation wide over 400,000 students compete in the Patriots Pen Competition and 600,000 students compete in the Voice of Democracy Competition.
Congratulations to Ellie and Daphne and good luck at the Department of AZ Essay competition.
