⚡ LIGHTNING SAFETY AT THE CAMP VERDE SPORTS COMPLEX ⚡

The Camp Verde Sports Complex is equipped with a lightning detection and warning system to help keep players, coaches, spectators, and visitors safe.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:

🔊 When lightning is detected within 10 miles of the Sports Complex, a siren and public-address announcement will sound.

🚨 A flashing strobe light on the unit located on top of the concession stand means lightning is still within the 10-mile safety radius. If you arrive and see the strobe flashing, the initial warning has already sounded and the lightning delay remains in effect.

✅ The all-clear announcement will sound after no lightning has been detected within the 10-mile radius for 30 consecutive minutes. The strobe light will stop flashing at that time.

Please remain off the fields and do not resume activities until the all-clear announcement has sounded, even if the weather appears to be improving.

The warning unit is solar powered, so a power outage should not affect its operation. However, as with any safety system, we encourage everyone to remain weather aware. If you have any reason to believe the system is not operating properly, please continue using a trusted weather app on your phone as you have in the past.

AYSO has weather safety policies to keep you and your loved ones safe. If a coach or another member of the Regional Board ask you to clear the field of play and seek shelter, it is not only a good idea to follow those instructions it is required by AYSO Policy, City/Town Policies, and National Weather Policies.

Our FREE Referee Clinic is happening during Soccer Camp Week, and we’re looking for parents, teens, and community members to step up this season.

Why referee?
