INTEGRITY

Our work is accomplished through voluntary, inclusive partnerships that foster commitment and engagement in pursuit of our shared vision. SUSTAINABILITY
Long-term environmental stewardship is crucial to support a healthy river system and vibrant communities. INNOVATION
We explore and pioneer innovative, science-based solutions and concepts. ABOUT THE VERDE RIVER
The Verde River is one of Arizona's last free-flowing rivers. It creates a unique riparian habitat system that supports local communities, wildlife and flora along its 140 mile flow. The Verde River supports one of the only 20 Cottonwood-Willow Gallery Forests in the world! And over 80% of the wildlife in the area depend on the Verde and its tributary streams for habitat, including several threatened and endangered species. The Verde River and its tributaries flow through three National Forests. The Verde provides water to irrigate local agriculture, and connects people to nature through a wealth of recreational opportunities, breathing life into our local communities. Ultimately, after flowing through one of Arizona’s two designated Wild & Scenic River sections, the Verde brings clean drinking water to over 2 million residents in the greater Phoenix area.

Big thanks to the Beaver Creek Public Library for staying open an hour late to host us. Another shout out to the U.S. Forest Service - Coconino National Forest and Friends of the Forest for hosting us in Sedona and continuing to support firefly research through surveys and deployment of trail cameras!

We are hosting two more training sessions this year and there is still a little room left: https://bit.ly/2026FireflyTraining

🐾❤️ Your dog loves Sedona’s trails as much as you do—but sharing these special places means looking out for the wildlife that lives here, too.

Become a B.A.R.K. Ranger and help keep adventures safe for everyone along the Verde River and throughout the Verde Valley.

🐕 B.A.R.K. means:
• Bag your pet’s waste
• Always leash your pet
• Respect wildlife
• Know where you can go

A leashed dog helps avoid contact with wildlife like coyotes, river otters, javelina, Sonoran Desert Toads and other native species—and can help prevent unwanted encounters with rattlesnakes and other hazards on the trail.

Every responsible pet owner makes a difference. Take the B.A.R.K. Ranger pledge and help keep our trails and the Verde River corridor safe, healthy, and welcoming for all.

📸 Adventure with your best friend. Leave only paw prints and memories.
