Update:

After following the chain-of-command, I discovered that the appeal process for Planning and Development is the courts. So, I have contacted an attorney.

I also had to call SLED. The firing range has never fulfilled it's obligation of installing state required signage along Bama Rd, Geechie Club Rd and Hwy 17A. The enforcement of this falls to SLED. So far they have failed to enforce the requirement.

This issue is of particular concern since nobody remembers ever even seeing any public notice of the permit application. The people I've asked think it is either a governmental agency or a bunch of gun lovers having a hootenanny, and just figure there's nothing they can do. They are, however, livid and aggravated. Me too!

The cretins who opened this firing range snuck in, and I'm curious about how much Planning and Development helped them stay under the radar. I'm gonna request the entire file. How long will that take I wonder?

So that's where I am now. I'm ready to start putting out my own signs to advertise No to the NOISE, but want to wait on the attorney. I'll post again soon. I have another protest to work on.🫩 Fu***ng Data Centers...

An update is coming. I'm waiting to hear back from some government folk and want to follow the chain of command and see if this can be resolved w/o too much bs. I just don't want to live in an area where there is a constant din of gunfire in the background. It wasn't like that when I purchased the land. I never saw any public notice, multiple variances were given by zoning and development and they still haven't installed the state-required signage around their little gun fort...

Once I hear back from Z&D and my attorney I'll be installing some road-side signage and we'll get the ball rolling. I'm hoping to fix this w/o county council because I'm also protesting the building of a data center in the ACE Basin and I'm certain to ruffle some feathers. Actually...I probably already have.

I spoke at their recent meeting to encourage them to vote for the moratorium. Fortunately they voted for sanity, but I think I might have possibly probably said they had bumped their heads with their decision on the ACE Basin...

Pure lunacy, but let's stay focused! Our mission HERE is to restore Brian's peace and quiet...damn it! 🤦 No to the noise 🙋️✌️

Sticking with the canine on top of things theme...
Hello everyone! My name is Brian and I started this group to find a resolution to the noise pollution being caused by the nearby Live Fire Training Academy. I have filed a complaint with Colleton County Council and will post all updates here. I'm also sitting down with an attorney to discuss a class-action case in civil court. Speaking of the law...I am not against public safety getting their training, I support and respect the law and the military. Live Fire just needs to take it indoors. Build a building.

The firing range had to get a variance to receive the permit, and to put it simply, I call bu****it on that. All the areas around this county to put an open-air firing range and you put it in the middle of a residential area? WTF? And I'm doing something about it! I have the right to sit on my porch and have breakfast in peace, perhaps dinner on the back porch, also in piece! Right now it feels like I'm in Beirut.
I'm going to start putting out signs directing folk to come here and join the conversation. No doubt the signs will be vandalized, but I'm persistent, possibly stubborn. My experience with community organizing is limited, so bear with me as I assemble the plane while we taxi down the runway! Buckle up y'all!😁
One quick order of business. Two rules: 1. No politics unless in direct relation to the subject matter. 2. Be nice or leave. Our objective here is to quiet the noise, not raise a rucus. Be civil or else, dammit!🤪
