Since 2015, Jessica Geschke has served as President of SHN. Jessica began working within SHN and other Wisconsin-based advocacy groups after nearly losing her brother to an overdose. Jessica, along with her board of directors have spent years volunteering including endless hours of planning and executing events to raise money to help educate the public and get those addicted into treatment. Their

tireless efforts have saved so many lives and have saved so many families the pain of losing their loved one. Most recently the Board of Directors have embarked on a new direction with SHN. This has included the renaming of the 501C3 non-profit and branding of the page and new website and a name change to Start Healing Now. This nonprofit organization provides a solid base of continuous care, including resources and financial assistance for safe and structured sober living homes, education, transitional aftercare programs and free access to the lifesaving drug, Narcan. Your donations to SHN fuel the OAK Program, the road to recovery and a new life for those who struggle with the disease of addiction. Your donation will literally save a life! Narcan, provided free of charge and distributed across the country, saves lives daily by reversing the effects of an overdose. There is no chance of recovery if addiction ends up in a fatal overdose but with Start Healing Now thousands will be saved in order to give them a second chance at life. Please Donate Now. We often see comments like, “Narcan is free, but insulin isn’t.”

The truth is that both insulin and Narcan save lives, and affordable access to lifesaving medication should never be a controversial issue.

What many people don’t realize is that Narcan isn’t simply “free.” Much of the funding for naloxone distribution comes from opioid settlement dollars—money recovered from pharmaceutical companies that played a significant role in fueling the opioid crisis through deceptive marketing and unsafe practices.

Narcan is emergency medicine. It is used to reverse an overdose and restore breathing when someone’s life is in immediate danger. Every overdose reversed is an opportunity for another day, another chance, another recovery story.

Supporting harm reduction does not mean ignoring other healthcare challenges. We can advocate for affordable insulin, affordable healthcare, and access to lifesaving overdose reversal medication at the same time.

At Start Healing Now, we believe every life has value. Whether someone needs insulin, Narcan, cancer treatment, or mental health care, compassion and access to care should never be up for debate.

Lives are worth saving. Every single one.
