A groundbreaking initiative spearheaded by Weplant Inc has successfully concluded its Phase One sanitary pad donation program in Northern Kenya, reaching vulnerable schoolgirls in marginalized indigenous communities.
The project, part of the “End FGM, Eliminate Early, and Empower Her” campaign, focused on addressing period poverty while reinforcing the urgent call to end Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM) and early marriages.
Through this initiative, 3,600 school-going girls were provided with essential sanitary products to support their health, dignity, and uninterrupted access to education.
Supported by Weplant Inc Founder Debra Bartlett, Weplantinc Kenya Director Sam Letupukwa, Volunteers and Great Supporters the campaign engaged local schools, community leaders, and indigenous women in advocacy efforts aimed at protecting girls’ rights and amplifying End FGM, Eliminate Early Marriages, messages at the grassroots level.
The initiative combined practical support with awareness-building, ensuring that empowerment went hand in hand with education and protection. The distribution took place across several public primary and secondary schools in Northern Kenya, where girls received sanitary pads alongside messages of self-worth, confidence, and resilience. Community members welcomed the initiative as a timely intervention that addresses both cultural and economic challenges facing young girls.
Weplant Inc reaffirmed its commitment to expanding the program in subsequent phases, with plans to reach more communities and strengthen partnerships that promote girl-child empowerment, education, and the complete eradication of FGM.
Together, stakeholders, communities, and partners continue to stand united in ensuring that every girl grows up safe, educated, and empowered.
