Pics from a recent Rainwater Catchment System in San Rafael. In a wet conveyance system pipes transport rainwater underground to the storage tank, with the lower relative height of the tanks as compared to the house allowing for passive gravity fed conveyance. The calculated additional maximal friction loss that can occur in the pipe during a peak rain event determines the appropriate height of the tank. Typical irrigation solenoid valves require water pressure ≥ 15 PSI in order to function, and because pressure at the outlet will only be approximately 2 PSI a specialized low-pressure electric valve is utilized to automate opening and closing.

Over vast spans of time the distortion of the mineral group feldspar results in the formation of clay particles. With a crystalline structure described by the presence of two-dimensional sheets, tetrahedral (SiO4) and octahedral (Al2O3), during hydration water invades the space between layers, varying the thickness of a single clay particle by almost 100 percent.

Long turn vs. medium turn 90, where is it appropriate to use? A long turn 90 is required whenever you have a vertical drainpipe that’s transitioning to horizontal. Why? There always has to be enough room in a drainpipe for the air that’s being displaced to move through. When the downwards falling water hits a medium turn 90 it splashes up and blocks off the movement of air through the pipe, impeding the ventilation. But a medium turn 90 CAN be used in the opposite scenario, when you have a horizontal going to vertical. When you have horizontal turning to horizontal, a long turn should be used.
