Day 7:

Last Saturday was our last morning at camp. All the scouts showered the previous night, and the clean, new camp shirt was saved for the drive home. The scouts didn't even know they had them. 🤣 After breakfast we had our last camp inspection and the troop filled out their evaluation form together.

It is such an experience seeing how just a week at camp together has such an impact on each scout, as well as the troop as a whole, even if they DID almost leave their flag in the meadow when we were leaving.

Until next year!

Day 6 (Friday):

Last full day at Camp Hi-Sierra, 2026!

The morning was fairly relaxed, compared to the rest of the week. Scouts visited their program areas to finish up any last tasks and confirm all their requirements were complete. Then they were able to mill about, hang out at the trading post, and enjoy open areas. The leaders relaxed in camp. With the donation of supplies from Mr. ONeill and the help of a scout in collecting lichen, Ms. Christensen completed the last needed requirement for the year's treasure bead in the Saga of CHS. Tie dye shirts the leaders made earlier in the week were rinsed. And the troop received a 101 out of 100 on their final camp inspection!

After lunch, it was time for the campwide competition. T4 split into two groups to complete the activities. After the games were over, 5 scouts and both leaders sat for the Saga review and earned the rank of Seeker. Great practice for our young scouts who have not yet sat for their first Board of Review!

After another scrumptious dinner, it was time for one last campwide game - snake! Our scouts were so fun to watch! They really came together as a team after this week together. Unfortunately, they didn't make it to the final round. But they communicated and strategized so well!

The night ended with an excellent campfire program, even though the organizers did forget to include T4 in the lineup. Our SPL was able to talk to them and explain the situation, and the troop got to be the last skit of the night. They performed yet another iteration of their Beans skit. 🤣 To close out the campfire program, everyone who completed their Saga rank was called up and lead through a special ceremony in a different area before returning to the campsite for bed.

Day 5 (part 1):

Thursday was the last day of regular program for the week. Scouts had their last day of instruction, and leaders had their last day of adult classes. The day was incredible. Our homesick scouts made it over the hump, which really is the turning point! The troop found their groove, and made excellent plans for evening program, and both leaders completed and earned their Sage Mentor awards.

Troop 4 was also the first troop all week to sign up for flag ceremony!

First day/last day at Camp Hi-Sierra.

Service was limited, and we ran out of the free wifi data Thursday morning, which is why there have not been daily reviews of the last few days at camp. We did make it through the week, though! The troop arrived back at the hut this evening, and more pictures will be uploaded over the next few days!

Day 4 (Wed):

What a roller coaster at midweek! It was definitely an eventful day, filled with highs, lows, smiles, tears, dirt, sweat, delicious food, treats, tough talks, and big gratitude. What started as a not-quite forced troop bonding time ended as one of the highlights if the week so far: campfire in the campsite. Scouts and leaders alike are learning and growing!
