I have bittersweet news.
First: Thank you so much for all you’ve done for Cotati Kids Heritage Grazing. It’s with a heavy heart that I share that our nonprofit is being dissolved.
Second: Tracy (our youngest goat) and I will be at the Cotati Farmers’ Market this Wednesday, June 26, It's Cotati Pride, so please come by if you can...
Third: We found a beautiful place for the goats to go and a sales contract was signed today. The goats will be moved to their new home this Thursday, June 27.
Fourth: Part of the reason we've had to dissolve the nonprofit was financial. Jean and I were both laid off, so I've had to spend my time finding a new job (rather than critical fundraising, so we ended up paying for much of what the goats needed ourselves). Because the jobs we found pay less than we were making before, any donations to Cotati Kids Heritage Grazing would be a HUGE help in covering closing costs we'll otherwise have to continue to pay for for ourselves... (donations will continue to be tax deductible until we officially dissolve). www.ckhg.org/donate

Recognizing this is a total long-shot... Would you please consider renting/loaning (as tax-deductible in-kind donation) your reliable cargo van or truck and smaller livestock trailer to transport 11 small critically-endangered goats from Cotati to WI?
I'm having to dissolve my non profit, Cotati Kids Heritage Grazing, so if you donated the rental fee, it would be considered an in-kind donation and so would be tax deductible (either to you personally or to your business).

Do you know about electric fences?
A generous group of volunteers helped to install one for the nonprofit, Cotati Kids Heritage Grazing, and although the fence charger’s terminals are registering at 9, the fencing is fluctuating up to ~2.5.

I feel like if someone who knew what they were looking at could see the fence, they would immediately see what the problem is that we (with no experience with electric fencing) are not. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Would you please consider coming by to help us make it work or recommend someone who might, so we can allow the critically-endangered goats to graze in their pasture? Thank you.

The GREAT news is that our new goats are in Cotati!!

The challenging news is that a major and very expensive hiccup happened when the organization that had agreed to let us use their livestock trailer, changed their mind the day before we were planning to leave. A volunteer found us another trailer at the last minute and after he worked all night to modify it (to accommodate the goats), we drove it to Toledo, Washington. The unexpected expenses happened when the trailer failed: It could not sustain the weight of the goats without dangerously pitching back and forth.

We paid to install new tires and have them balanced (in the middle of the night). When that didn’t fix the problem, we had to stay overnight in Oregon, rent a second truck, and pay for gas and rental for 2 trucks, instead of 1.

Needless to say, it was a harrowing night and we now need funds to cover all the unexpected costs. Thank you for any contribution you can make…

The best news is that the goats are here in Cotati and with your help, will continue to thrive with us. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

My huge-hearted, 19-year-old bodied son helped me finish the first patch of leveling and get the second patch over halfway completed: after I had given up and gone home. 😘
