Loveart& was co-founded by Jenn Smucker & Shannon Lindsey-Frugis Loveart& works with under-served youth to encourage them to explore creative self expression. Our workshops introduce the concept of sustainability by using recycled or re-purposed materials. The hand-made, DIY nature of the activities draws attention to ingredients and how items are made. Our goal is to expose

young people to activities and ideas that are outside their daily routine as a way of broadening their perspective of what is possible in their lives.

Dreamcatcher workshop with SOY Center Costa, Mesa. dreamcatchers orginiated with the ojibwe people. legends speak of the spider woman, known as asibikaashi; she took care of the children and the people on the land. eventually, the ojibwe nation spread to the corners of north america and it became difficult for asibikaashi to reach all the children. so the mothers and grandmothers would weave magical webs for the children, using willow hoops and sinew, or cordage made from plants. the dreamcatchers would filter out all bad dreams and only allow good thoughts to enter our mind. once the sun rises, all bad dreams just disappear. we used repurposed tshirts & beads, found shells and feathers to create our dreamcatchers !

Loveart& was so happy to work with the Boys & Girls Club in San Clemente!! We had a great afternoon making bracelets out of recycled t-shirts in connection to the theme of the Divergent story!! Loveart& was the Amity faction!
