Position Summary- Part time
Coshocton Behavioral Health Choices (CBHC) is seeking two compassionate, organized, and motivated Prevention Specialists to join our prevention team. These part-time positions provide prevention education and support to youth throughout our local school districts. Successful candidates will be self-directed, comfortable working independently, and passionate about helping children and adolescents make healthy choices.
Position 1: Prevention Education Specialist
The Prevention Education Specialist delivers evidence-based prevention programming, including the **Too Good for Drugs** curriculum and **va**ng prevention education**, to students in local schools. This position works closely with school personnel to coordinate presentations and educate youth on healthy decision-making and substance use prevention.
Position 2: Youth Prevention Specialist
The Youth Prevention Specialist meets with children and adolescents in local school districts to provide prevention-focused support, build positive relationships, promote healthy coping skills, and connect students with appropriate resources when needed.
Essential Responsibilities
* Coordinate and schedule services with assigned school districts independently.
* Develop and maintain positive working relationships with school administrators, teachers, counselors, and community partners.
* Deliver evidence-based prevention programming and educational presentations.
* Meet individually or in small groups with students as assigned.
* Maintain timely, accurate electronic documentation and required reports.
* Utilize computer software and electronic health records to complete documentation and other job-related tasks.
* Manage an organized work schedule while balancing school programming, meetings, and documentation deadlines.
* Participate in community outreach activities, prevention events, and professional development opportunities.
* Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
Qualifications
* **High School Diploma or GED required.**
* **Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Public Health, or a related field preferred.**
* Experience working with youth.
* Strong communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
* Proficiency with computers, including the ability to complete electronic documentation, use Microsoft Office, email, and other web-based systems.
* Ability to independently organize and maintain a schedule by communicating directly with local school districts.
* Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel throughout the service area.
* Ability to pass required background checks.
* Ability to comply with CBHC's **drug-free and non-smoking workplace policies**.
Certification Requirements
CBHC is committed to professional growth and will support employees in obtaining required prevention credentials.
The selected candidate will be expected to:
* Obtain the **Registered Applicant (RA)** credential.
* Obtain the **Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist Assistant (OCPSA)** credential within the first year of employment.
* Obtain the **Qualified Mental Health Specialist (QMHS)** credential. CBHC will provide financial support for obtaining this certification.
Compensation & Schedule
* Part-Time Position
* Up to 30 hours per week
* Starting wage **$15.00–$17.00 per hour**, based on experience, education, and licensure.
* Flexible daytime schedule based on school programming and community needs.
