She Was Let Out to P*e. She Came Back as a Half-Marathon Star. 🐾🏃♀️
In Elkmont, Alabama, April Hamlin let her two-and-a-half-year-old Bloodhound, Ludivine, outside for a quick bathroom break. Instead, Ludivine spotted a crowd of runners and decided to join them.
Without any training, she followed the runners onto the Elkmont Half Marathon course and completed the entire 13.1 miles.
Along the way, Ludivine stopped to sniff a rabbit, wandered off to visit some cows, and even took a quick swim. Somehow, she still crossed the finish line in 1 hour, 32 minutes, and 56 seconds, finishing seventh out of 165 runners.
Volunteers greeted the unexpected competitor with cheers and a finisher's medal. Her owner was amazed, especially since Ludivine was normally much more interested in napping than running.
Her hilarious adventure became a local legend, and the race was eventually renamed the Hound Dog Half Marathon in her honor.
Sometimes, all it takes to become a champion is a little curiosity and an open door. 🐶🏅
