Hesthavn Nature Center

Hesthavn Nature Center Hesthavn is a 6-acre property owned by Audubon Society of Corvallis, located on Oak Creek Drive west of Corvallis. The education barn is not currently open.

We invite visitors to walk our two trails and enjoy the native plants, birds, and animals. The public is welcome to visit Audubon’s Hesthavn Nature Center from sunrise to sunset to walk the nature trails and view native habitat and wildlife. uilding (the large barn-style structure) has educational displays about birds and other wildlife but is currently not open to the public due to COVID restrictions and staffing limitations. AMENITIES
Several parking places are available in the small parking lot above the property, and a handicapped designated parking place is located by the barn. A ramp leads from the handicap parking to the barn. A composting toilet is located next to the barn. No potable water is available on site. Mobile phone service can be unreliable in areas of the property. TRAILS
Ray's Trail (0.2mi) is a nearly flat, gravel surface loop through the meadow. A bench is located approximately halfway around, off a short spur. This trail leads through an area that is being converted to native vegetation. Lift the metal covers along the trail to see what (or who?) might be living underneath. At the picnic area, Ray's trail intersects with a footbridge across Oak Creek which leads to Paula's Trail (0.1mi), a winding single-file loop trail through the woods along the creek and up onto the hillside. In spring, this trail hosts one of the best displays of native bleeding heart and delphiniums in the area.

Picture from the Jan 11 work party. I try to take at least one picture with each work party, but sometimes, especially in winter, it's hard to find anything worth posting. This is kind of interesting. this tree fell across the trail and we cut it off to keep the trail accessible.. The tree was not dead and side branches have been growing up. In a few years we will have multiple trees growing out of that log.
