Over the past two days, the Benton Community Foundation team had the opportunity to learn more about the people, organizations, businesses, and natural spaces that make Benton County such a special place to call home.

We are grateful to our community partners who welcomed us behind the scenes, including Benton County Museums Johnson Collections Center, Cardwell Hill Cellars, the William L. Finley National Wildlife Refuge, and Hull-Oakes Lumber Company. From exploring local history and conservation efforts to learning about award-winning winemaking and nearly 90 years of timber industry heritage, each stop offered a deeper appreciation for the communities we serve.

What stood out most was the passion and commitment of the people we met along the way. Benton County is filled with individuals who work every day to strengthen their communities and preserve what makes this region unique. We are honored to support that work and to help build an even brighter future for Benton County every day.

The Philomath FRIEND Firefighter STEM Camp recently helped Benton County youth build confidence, leadership skills, and an interest in careers that serve their communities.

Supported by a Benton Community Foundation PALS Grant, this camp gave participants the opportunity to earn CPR and First Aid certifications, complete Stop the Bleed training, and learn alongside firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and other first responders. Through hands-on STEM activities and public safety education, students gained practical life-saving skills while exploring future career pathways.

Programs like this create meaningful opportunities for youth to grow, lead, and discover new possibilities, strengthening our community for years to come.
