SB 1507 passed out of the Senate yesterday! Thank you to the 17 senators from across the state who voted YES. This is a critical first step to creating an economy that works for all of us, not just the wealthy few.

On Tuesday, a group of legislators representing Oregonians across the state called on their colleagues to join them in rejecting Trump’s tax giveaways to mega-corporations to protect funding for schools, health care, housing supports, and childcare.

Thank you , , , , Representative Mark Gamba, , , and , for standing with working families!

"Oregon entered this budget cycle with a $475 million surplus. We made responsible investments in education, housing and infrastructure. Then Washington changed the rules mid-game, transforming a surplus into a deficit and forcing a crisis."

Unless Oregon's legislature takes action to disconnect from the federal tax system in 2026, the harm to working Oregonians caused by the Trump administration's regressive tax reductions for billionaires and multinational corporations will continue to grow.

Learn more in this opinion piece by Annie Naranjo-River and Jody Wiser from the Oregon Revenue Coalition.

The tax cuts included in the One Big Beautiful Bill will cost Oregon nearly $900 million in revenue over the current biennium and primarily benefit corporations and the wealthy, write Annie Naranjo-Rivera and Jody Wiser. Oregon legislators should "disconnect" the state from federal tax code and ensu...

Ann Cudd | President, Portland State University

Here's what people had to say about Ann:

"Ann Cudd has worked tirelessly to threaten student safety on campus by calling in the notoriously violent Portland Police Bureau, who, to no one's surprise, brutalized student protesters on campus. She also prioritizes real estate deals rather than affordable education at an access-institution. Under her leadership, Portland State terminated the director of the Women's Resource Center during Sexual Assault Awareness Month without a plan on how to support student survivors. The director was given a notice of no-cause termination, but many believe it was directly related to their advocacy and educational programming of Palestinian liberation."

"When programs are eliminated and courses are canceled, students lose access to required classes, which can delay graduation. Some may have to change majors entirely. Others will face larger class sizes and reduced access to faculty advisors. Student support services, from mentoring to mental health counseling, often face the deepest cuts."

Oregon’s public universities are in crisis. Since Measures 5 and 50 gutted the state’s revenue base, Oregon has fallen to 37th in the nation in higher-education funding. This spring, all three major universities were nearly on strike simultaneously—the sign of a system at the breaking point. W...

The Trump administration has imposed unprecedented and highly politicized regulations on institutions of higher education, pressured them with coercive funding threats, extorted promises to fall in line with right-wing ideology, and upended long held principles of civil rights, academic freedom, freedom of speech, and equality of opportunity.

Now the administration is planning to go even further.

We are proud to be one of the 125+ organizations that endorse Measure 117! Measure 117 would enact statewide ranked choice voting in Oregon– it's a simple improvement to our elections that gives you more choice and more power on your ballot. We urge Oregonians to vote YES on Measure 117 this election.

We support ranked choice voting because our state and nation have been ill-served by first-past-the-post elections. With ranked choice voting, Oregonians can confidently vote for the candidates that most closely match their values.
