The Shelter Medicine Club is open to all current veterinary students attending Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine. We are a nonprofit, student-run club that volunteers in the community and offers veterinary services to those who are in need. Here are just a few of the things the Shelter Medicine Club does:

Pro-Bone-O, Eugene, OR: we provide free veterinary care to the pets of homeless people in the Eugene area

OHSU Equity Week, Portland, OR: we team up with OHSU to provide free veterinary care to the public in the Portland area at this well known, annual event

Coffee and bagels fundraiser, Corvallis, OR: we hold a weekly fundraiser at the veterinary school providing coffee and bagels/cream cheese for a suggested donation of $1. 100% of proceeds go towards funding our volunteering events or is donated to local animal shelters and other non-profit organizations.

There are too many unwanted cats - and with kitten season coming up it will only get worse!

Anyone in the Portland/Vancouver area: if you're on government assistance or feeding/caring for a colony of feral cats, PLEASE take advantage of this program and get all your kitties spayed and neutered!

Planning your summer vacation? How about a SPAYcation for all the felines in your life?? This June, the Animal Shelter Alliance of Portland (Spay & Save) will spay/neuter owned and stray/feral cats for FREE! Details: http://bit.ly/KJiFdV

This is part of ASAP's ongoing efforts to reduce the cat overpopulation issues in the Portland metro area. Whether or not you receive gov't assistance, there are ongoing low-cost spay/neuter options for both cats AND dogs in the Portland area and throughout Oregon. Check out more options here: http://www.oregonhumane.org/services/assistance_options.asp
