🎨 September ArtShop Spotlight: Mari Ann Baden

Sometimes creativity waits patiently for us to find our way back.

September’s featured ArtShop artist, Mari Ann Baden, first discovered her love of art as a child. Years later, after family, travel, and life took her in other directions, her paintbrushes spent some time tucked away.

That changed when Mari Ann settled in Corvallis in 2023 and discovered a welcoming community of artists and an appreciation for art that inspired her to begin creating again.

Today, those brushes are back on her craft table, creating joyful, hand-painted work that she’s excited to share with our community.

Elemental Bodies | Rose Covert

Grown, gathered, woven, transformed.

Opening tomorrow in the Corrine Woodman Gallery, Elemental Bodies brings the natural world into the gallery through the sculptural basketry of artist Rose Covert.

Working with plants she tends, harvests, and processes herself, Covert uses reimagined basketry techniques to create flowing sculptural forms inspired by elemental forces and the landscapes where her materials grow. Her works twist and travel through space, carrying traces of both the artist's hand and the natural environments from which they came.

Bring some Big Leaf Energy to TAC this September!

Join us for 2nd Saturdays at TAC and create oversized paper leaves inspired by the colors, shapes, and textures of nature. Layer color with pastels and markers, add your own details, and transform simple sheets of paper into bold, larger-than-life leaves.

Take your creation home, or leave a leaf with us to become part of a collaborative community installation on exhibit at The Arts Center in October!

Water as Self: River as Humanity

Step inside the creative process with RIVER Resident Artist Jennifer Gillia Cutshall for a free Open Studio and hands-on art activity.

During her residency at The Arts Center, Jennifer is exploring the riparian zone, where water travels and rivers gather, collect, and carry signs of our changing climate.

Come see what Jennifer has been creating, ask questions, and spend time in conversation with the artist. Then, create a small art memento of your own inspired by the interconnected life force of rivers and forests.

✨ August ArtShop Spotlight: Maddie MacGregor

This month we're shining the ArtShop Spotlight on Willamette Valley artist and writer Maddie MacGregor.

Working in acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media, Maddie's paintings are full of color, charm, and personality. Whether inspired by animals, nature, or imagination, each piece tells its own little story—and it's hard not to smile while looking at them.

One of our favorite things about Maddie's work is that her love of animals extends beyond the canvas. She donates a portion of proceeds from her shelter animal paintings to animal rescue organizations, so every one of those pieces helps support animals in need.
