The Corvallis Folklore Society (CFS) is a non-profit community organization dedicated to preserving, teaching, promoting and encouraging the performance of traditional music, dance, arts, song and other folk expression. We also strive to cooperate with other community organizations and individuals to foster that goal. The CFS is run by a board of volunteers meeting five times a year to discuss and

revise organizational business. Folklore Society Events:

Concert Series – Features a wide variety of national and international solo acts and bands. Best Cellar – Corvallis’ oldest continuing folk event features performances by regional musicians in an intimate coffee house setting. House Concerts – Small, cozy concerts at local homes irregularly feature traveling artists and local talent. Song Circles – Second and fourth Sundays, this informal music and song space is a great way to share space with locals, or just listen in. Contra Dances – First and third Saturdays of each month, plus special events. No partner or experience needed. Contra Dance Weekend – February in-town dance weekend with two bands, two callers; a vibrant community experience with home stays and potlucks. Hoolyeh International Folk Dances –First & Third Sundays each month, join in international folk dances with regional styles and themes. See www.hoolyeh.com . 🙌 Sometimes, art doesn’t just reflect us. It meets us.

This quiet moment between a community member and Burdens of Responsibility feels almost sacred. Two figures, one sculpted from clay and one shaped by life, share a silent understanding of what it means to carry weight — physical, emotional, and unseen.

When we asked to share this image, they replied,

“I’m really grateful to TAC for keeping me sane in general, let alone for this wonderful exhibition.”

We are grateful too. Grateful for every person who is part of this creative community and finds a piece of themselves in the art around them. 🫶

YOU are invited!
Tomorrow, in appreciation for all the volunteers and dancers in our community . . . Corvallis Folklore Society will host a music jam, song circle & potluck supper at Gatton Hall before the regular contra dance on June 15th.
Location: the First Congregational Church, 4515 West Hills Rd. Corvallis, OR
Meet in the Fireplace Room. (There will be signs)
4:00 - Music jam and song circle in the Fireplace Room at UCC.
5:00 - Potluck tables open
6:00 - Annual meeting starts & Dessert table opens
7:00 - Clean-up & Dance hall opens
7:30 - Dance begins in Gatton Hall
We hope a lot of CFS members will be there for the annual member meeting .. .BUT you do not have to be a member to join in the music and fun.
CFS need more members . . . and volunteers.A bigger communication network will allow us to share resources, solve problems, and bring new participants and volunteers into the community.
