June 5 is National Start Over Day — a reminder that new beginnings are always possible. 💙

For many children in foster care, life can change suddenly and unexpectedly. Foster families help provide children with the chance to start over in a safe, supportive, and caring environment where they can heal, grow, and thrive.

At Cortland County Foster Care, we believe every child deserves hope, stability, and the opportunity for a brighter future. Sometimes, opening your home can help a child begin a new chapter filled with encouragement, compassion, and belonging.

If you’ve ever thought about becoming a foster parent, today is a great day to take that first step. Your support could make all the difference in helping a child start over with confidence and care.

June 4 is National SAFE Day — a day dedicated to protecting children through education, awareness, and safe environments. 💙

At Cortland County Foster Care, the safety and well-being of children is always our top priority. Every child deserves a safe, supportive place where they can feel cared for, valued, and secure.

SAFE stands for:
🛡️ Secure dangerous items in the home
❓ Ask questions about safety where your children visit
🗣️ Frequently talk with children about safety
💙 Educate and empower others to be SAFE

You can help make a difference by opening your home and heart to a child in need. Foster parents provide children with stability, comfort, and a safe place during difficult times — and that support can change a child’s life forever.

If you’ve ever considered fostering, now is a great time to learn more about how you can help create safe spaces for children in Cortland County.

📎 Happy National Paperclip Day! 📎

Today we celebrate the tiny paperclip — a simple tool designed to hold things together. And in many ways, that’s what foster care is all about. ❤️

Children and families in our community need caring people who can help provide support, stability, and connection during difficult times. Foster parents, relatives, caseworkers, teachers, and community members all play an important role in helping children feel safe, valued, and supported.

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can help hold everything together.

This National Paperclip Day, we thank everyone who helps strengthen and support children and families across Cortland County. If you’ve ever considered becoming a foster parent or learning more about how you can help, now is a great time to take the first step.

☀️🩴 It’s National Flip Flop Day! 🩴☀️

As we head into summer here in Cortland County, we’re celebrating warmer days, community connections, and the simple joys that make childhood special.

For many children in foster care, small moments — summer outings, laughter, feeling safe and supported — can make a big difference. You can help create those moments by becoming a foster parent.

This National Flip Flop Day, consider “stepping up” for children and families in our community. Every step of kindness matters. ❤️

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. 🇺🇸

As we gather with family and friends, let us take a moment to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave their lives for our freedom.

At Cortland County Foster Care, we are also reminded of the importance of service, compassion, and community support. Every child deserves a safe, loving home and caring adults who stand beside them through life’s challenges.

This Memorial Day, we thank our military heroes and all those who continue to serve others in meaningful ways every day.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend. ❤️🤍💙

💛 May 18 is National Visit Your Relatives Day 💛

Family connections matter — whether they’re built through birth, friendship, foster care, or chosen support systems.

Today is a reminder to reach out to the people who help us feel loved, supported, and connected. A visit, phone call, video chat, or even a simple message can mean the world to someone.

For children and youth in foster care, maintaining healthy family and supportive relationships can provide comfort, stability, and a sense of belonging. Small moments of connection often leave the biggest impact.

Today, consider:
📞 Calling a relative you haven’t spoken to in a while
🏡 Visiting a loved one or older family member
💌 Sending a thoughtful message
💙 Letting someone know they matter to you

Strong connections help build strong communities.

💐 May 15 is Bring Flowers to Someone Day! 💐

A small act of kindness can make a big difference. Today is the perfect reminder to brighten someone’s day with flowers, a thoughtful note, or simply letting them know they are appreciated.

At Cortland County Foster Care, we see every day how meaningful support, compassion, and encouragement can be for children and families in our community. Whether it’s a foster parent opening their home, a caseworker offering guidance, or a neighbor sharing kindness — little gestures matter.

Today, consider bringing flowers (or kindness!) to:
🌸 A foster parent
🌸 A teacher
🌸 A friend or neighbor
🌸 Someone who may need encouragement
🌸 A child who could use a smile

Kindness grows when we share it. 💛

If interested in helping bring a smile to a child today, please contact us to find more information on becoming a Cortland County foster parent!
