I have a short PSA for you and your children.

It is estimated that each year, between 45,000 and 47,000 deaths occur due to automobile accidents. This figure does not account for the additional 5,000 pedestrian and 1,100 cyclist fatalities. These numbers have increased over time.

Everyone is in such a rush, speeding along while talking on their phones, weaving in and out of traffic just to get ahead of the car in front of them.

Unfortunately, there is also an untold truth in all of this. Your children in your car, which has a very high percentage. As a matter of fact, 1,100 children under the age of 14 are killed riding as passages, and boys 15 and under have the highest percentage of injury or death when riding their bicycles.

Therefore, please encourage your children to wear bright colors, ride in the correct direction, obey traffic signals, and always be mindful of their surroundings.

The approval of another data center suggests that the county prioritizes economic gain over quality of life, which are not the same.

Can the region's farmland be protected from large-scale industrial development, or will its history and natural beauty be compromised?

The light pollution map illustrates the gradual encroachment of urbanization, a trend that seems irreversible. Soon, I will need to rename this page to something like 'Mediocre DeKalb County' with a slogan such as 'A place just like every other.'

I want to share a coyote report I received from a photographer who visited Afton Forest Preserve this morning. He observed a coyote in the distance that began to approach him. The photographer maintained a firm defensive stance but was not aggressive, so the coyote would not mistake him as prey.

We both agreed that someone might be feeding the animals, causing the coyote to associate people with food, not as prey, but as a food source. This is why feeding wildlife is discouraged.

If an animal approaches someone and they run away, the coyote might instinctively chase, which could lead to the animal needing to be euthanized. Please avoid feeding the wildlife.
