As the stone crab season comes to a close, PLEASE keep this in mind. OFF and other organizations are closely monitoring the situation mentioned in the post below.

If you have questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out.

As stone crabs season comes to a close, and in light of recent events we’ve been working on, we wanted to take the time to send a reminder to all! It is a felony to tamper with traps that do not belong to you. “Active” traps targeting species in season (or during soak/grace period) may only be pulled by the owner (or hardship approved circumstances) or law enforcement- there is NO EXCEPTION to this rule.

While marine debris removals and trap retrieval programs are legal, they do not excuse the responsibility to ensure the proper equipment is being targeted and active traps are not being tampered with.

We are aware of the active cases and will be monitoring closely. As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns and if you see something fishy-we are happy to help you navigate it. 🦀

Happy Earth Day!

Earlier this month our Cortez Chapter cleaned 1.25tons of trash/debris, and a member of our Lower Keys Chapter assisted FWC in removing 1.5 tons of debris!

Thankful for our members practicing sustainable fishing methods, caring for their local waterways, and being able to do what we love on this beautiful planet!

Ever wonder how we get all that trash (and large debris out of the water)? Here’s a few clips of our fishermen just doing what they know best. Being innovative and taking care of our natural resources.
