A new documentary, "Thirsting for a Future," will screen later this month in the Four Corners. Join MLC, Dolores River Boating Advocates, and the filmmaker to talk about how kids are understanding the world they’re inheriting and what we can do to support them. Better yet, bring your kiddos along! (Appropriate for ages 10+)

Sheep are back at Fozzie's Farm to help graze down our pastures and wrap up our 2026 growing season. About 60 sheep are joined this year by ten goats. Two guardian dogs, Bubba and Smokey, are also here to watch over them all, but are only four months into the job so far. When they aren’t napping or exploring the farm, these two intimidating beasts take their job very seriously!

So glad we took "Before" photos! After moving into our new office in 2024, we finally have a yard that complements our work and values.

🌺 Working with Pleasantree Farm, we have planted shade trees, native and drought-tolerant shrubs, built raised beds that are growing a mix of veggies, herbs, and pollinator-friendly flowers, and created accessible hardscaped walkways around the whole area.

🌱 We planted a native grass lawn from seeds donated by Southwest Seed, Inc.

🕺 We added benches and patio furniture ready to seat 50+ people at a time.

We are excited to share this space with our community. If you have ideas for how MLC's centrally located yard and garden can contribute to a thriving and well-connected Cortez, CO, please comment or send us a message!

Finally had the chance to celebrate the new and improved MLC office yard! Since moving into our new Cortez office in 2024, we have officially turned our weedy lot into a community plot.

Thanks to all of our friends and partners who joined us to break in the space. Aside from the "unveiling" of the new yard and garden (we'll post before and after pics soon), we got to share bruschetta appetizers made with tomatoes and basil from Fozzie's Farm, and tasty b**r donated by WildEdge Brewing Collective.

Finally, we must thank the funders that made this yard beautification happen, the Land Trust Alliance and LOR Foundation, and the team at Pleasantree Farm for working their landscaping magic and bringing our dream into reality.

We got rained out this week (a welcome problem after the dry summer), so the MLC Office Yard "Opening" Celebration is on for Tuesday, October 6! Join us between 4-6pm for lawn games, refreshments, and a chance to help us envision future activations of our yard and garden that could better serve our Cortez community.

MLC moved into our new office in 2024 and at that time the large corner lot yard was weedy and neglected. Thanks to funding support from the LOR Foundation and Land Trust Alliance, Keep It Colorado, and Great Outdoors Colorado - GOCO, and some incredible landscaping work by Pleasantree Farm, we have turned our yard into beautified community space! Come join us next week to check it out.

Volunteers needed! On Saturday, October 24 from 9am to 1pm, MLC and our partners in the Traditional Harvest Project will be hosting our final planting day on the County Road 39 Restoration Project on the Mancos River.

This project aims to strengthen native plant communities on properties in the Mancos Valley that are open to cultural access and traditional harvesting by members of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe. Seedlings transplanted will enhance habitat and support Tribal community plant material needs used for ceremonies, celebrations, food, and medicine.

Coffee, snacks, and all needed materials will be provided.
