Gibbs Youth Football FAQ
(Frequently Asked Questions)
When are sign-ups and how much is it to register my child?
Sign ups Typically take place between April 15th and June 1st
Cost is typically $125 for Flag (K/1st Grade) or $225 for Tackle ages (2nd Grade and Above). ** However, keep your eyes peeled for Early Bird Sign Ups that typically start in March to save $25 off your registration **
You can register your child here: www.GibbsEagles.org
What Grade should I register my child for?
Grade is determined by the “upcoming” grade during the summer, or the grade your child will be in DURING the Season when games start. You CAN play your child “up” a grade if you sign a waiver, but you CANNOT play your child “down”.
Rosters will be verified at Mandatory Weigh In’s at Dick’s Sporting Goods before Game 1. You will need to provide your coach a copy of your child’s ASPEN Report (or equivalent documentation verifying their graduation year) from your school for them to have on hand at all times BEFORE Weigh-In’s or your child will not be eligible to play.
If I missed the June 1 Deadline, can my child still play?
We understand many people move into/out of the area during the summer. If you have not registered by the June 1st Deadline, please reach out ASAP so that we can see if we can still get you plugged in. This is addressed on a case-by-case basis; however, we do our best not to penalize a child for “joining late”
What is the Season Schedule Like?
The season itself runs from July to November.
Games take place on Saturdays starting Early/Mid August
‘Mandatory’ Practices start after the Dead Period – Early July. They will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at your Head
Coaches Discretion, unless posted otherwise.
‘Optional’ Practices/Conditioning start in May and run until the Dead Period begins – Late June. They will take place on Mondays and Thursdays, unless posted otherwise. ALL athletes are welcome to join us during conditioning as it will be non-contact.
Where do Practices/Games take place?
Practices will take place on the Ruritan Football Field (off of Karnes Road) at the back of the park.
Games will take place at Participating YAC Teams High School Fields throughout Knox County and will vary week-to-week.
Gameday Cost to enter is $10 per person, unless noted otherwise. This can be offset during the regular season with the purchase of a Season Pass. All Season Pass money goes back to the program you purchase it from (In our case, Gibbs Youth Football). Otherwise, gameday gate fees go to the “home” team program that day.
What Equipment does my child need?
We – Gibbs Youth Football – will provide: Helmet, Shoulder Pads, Game Jersey, and Game Pants.
You – the Parent – will provide: Socks and mouth pieces. It is recommended to buy multiple mouthpieces, as your child will not be eligible to participate in a game on gameday if they do not have one. Coaches are not guaranteed to have spares on-hand.
Optional Accessories – Backplates, alternate chin guard, wristbands, gloves, tape, sleeves, etc are ok to be worn during activities. However, please confer with your coach if you have any questions ahead of time.
** Visors, if worn, MUST BE CLEAR WITH NO TINT ** That is a safety rule enforced by YAC Officials on gameday.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out directly to the Gibbs Youth Football or Gibbs Youth Sports pages. Or you can call/text 865-206-1430.
