Monthly meetings are the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7 pm Sharp for VFW Post 2397 members only.

Happy 251st birthday to the United States Navy from Texas VFW!

On October 13, 1775, the Continental Congress authorized two armed vessels to intercept ships carrying supplies to the British Army, marking the beginning of the Continental Navy and the origins of today’s U.S. Navy.

Today, we salute the Sailors who serve and the Navy veterans who carry that pride into our Posts and communities across Texas. Thank you for your service, your camaraderie, and the sea stories that somehow get better every year.

Middle and high school students have until Oct. 31 to enter the VFW’s Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen contests for a share of more than $2.5 million in awards.

The VFW supports many of the veteran, caregiver and survivor provisions Congress is considering in TCAVA.

Our objection is to Section 108, which would change how future claims for tinnitus and sleep apnea are rated to help pay for those provisions.

Veterans should not be used to balance the budget. Period.

Today, VFW Post 2397 – John N. Timon Post proudly pauses to honor the life, service, and legacy of the man whose name our Post carries.

John Nicholas Timon, a World War I veteran, passed away on October 11, 1918 and was buried at sea. Though 108 years have passed, his memory and sacrifice have not been forgotten.

The photograph shared in this tribute shows John Nicholas Timon standing in front of his family home, the historic Timon Ranch House in San Patricio, Texas. It offers us a rare glimpse of the man behind the name we proudly display on our Post.

For us, John N. Timon is more than a name on a building. His legacy represents the courage, patriotism, sacrifice, and dedication to country that continue to define the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

As members of VFW Post 2397, we have the honor and responsibility of keeping his memory alive, preserving his history, and continuing our mission of serving veterans, their families, and our community.

May future generations always remember the veterans who came before us and the sacrifices they made for the freedoms we enjoy today.
