Saltwater-fisheries Enhancement Association - SEA

Saltwater-fisheries Enhancement Association - SEA SEA was founded on the premise of raising local money for local projects and this premise has been extended to a Chapter in San Antonio.

SEA is committed to conserving our local saltwater fisheries, ensuring vibrant and sustainable resources for recreational anglers and enthusiasts to enjoy today and for generations to come. About SEA

Saltwater-fisheries Enhancement Association (SEA) is a non-profit (501)(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting the conservation and preservation of our saltwater resources for the benefit of recre

ational users. SEA was formed in late 2000 as a grassroots organization focusing on raising money locally to address issues and support projects benefiting the inshore and offshore saltwater resources of the Coastal Bend of Texas. SEA has grown through the support of individuals, businesses and industry to become an effective voice for the recreational angler with members serving on Texas Parks and Wildlifes Sea Grass Task Force and Trout Work Group, representing recreational stakeholders. SEA has been involved in issues including the regulation of floating cabins, the elimination of the retention of guide limits and adjustments in daily and slot limits on Spotted Sea Trout. SEA monitors regulatory proposals affecting the saltwater fishery providing information to members and soliciting feedback to establish positions reflecting the interest of SEA members. SEA has supported saltwater fisheries management through contributions to Texas Parks and Wildlife Coastal Fisheries and Enforcement Divisions in excess of $290,000. Research efforts have been supported by contributions of $263,000, with the majority of these funds directed at developing spawning and rearing procedures for Flounder at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, Texas. SEA recognizes the importance of public awareness and education in facilitating effective management practices and focuses heavily on youth events to promote a better understanding of our saltwater fishery by tomorrows anglers and leaders. SEA San Antonio directs funds derived from their annual fund raiser to projects in the areas they fish and provide educational opportunities for the youth of San Antonio. This same principal is being considered for Austin and Victoria

SEA remains a grassroots organization with direction determined by the membership. Input and suggestions are both encouraged and appreciated and determine the priorities for the organization.

Several SEA Officers were proud to attend the commissioning ceremony for the Patrol Vessell Loyd Gustin this week in Port Aransas, which will work areas from Corpus Christi to the Texas-Mexico border. SEA has supported this vessel by helping provide mooring in Port Mansfield.

We also had the chance to tour the PV Captain Murchison which was quite an experience!

Thank you Texas Game Wardens!

Friends, we want to remind everyone that SEA remains firmly opposed to any desalination project in the Coastal Bend that fails to responsibly manage brine discharge. Desalination is our only unlimited supply of fresh water in South Texas, but the brine must be managed without discharge into our bays or estuaries. Our fisheries are priceless—and no project should move forward without guaranteed protections for these delicate ecosystems.

Our community of residents, anglers, and outdoorsmen has always been the first line of defense for the Coastal Bend. Your voice matters now more than ever. Together, we must ensure that industry and policymakers understand that our waters are not disposable.

💥 There ARE other options out there! We don’t have to settle for risky plans that could damage our bays for generations!

📣 CALL TO ACTION:
Contact your local elected officials and let them know loud and clear:
No desalination project without proven, responsible brine management—period.
