🇺🇸 We remember. We honor. We stand together.

On September 11, 2001, our nation experienced unimaginable loss. In the days that followed, we also witnessed extraordinary courage, compassion, sacrifice, and unity.

The American flag became more than a symbol—it was a reminder that even in our darkest moments, hope remains, communities come together, and we continue to stand.

At the Rotary Club of Corpus Christi, we believe in that same spirit: serving our neighbors, strengthening our community, and choosing hope through action.

Today, we remember the lives lost, honor the heroes who answered the call, and recognize all those whose lives were forever changed.

America still stands. Hope still flies. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 It starts with an empty park… and a whole lot of Rotarians.

Soon, hundreds of American flags will fill our Corpus Christi parks, each one honoring someone’s hero. But first, there’s work to do! ❤️🤍💙

Our Rotarians are getting ready to create one of our favorite sights of the year — Flags for Heroes.

Flags for Heroes doesn’t simply appear in our parks—it takes months of work and many helping hands to bring it to life.

Members of the Rotary Club of Corpus Christi, alongside dedicated community volunteers, are behind every part of this incredible undertaking. We prepare the parks, assemble and install the flags, create and attach each personalized hero tag, maintain the displays, remove the flags, and carefully return the tags to their sponsors.

It is physical work. It is detailed work. And it is all done with love—love for the heroes being honored and for the entire Corpus Christi community that comes together to experience these powerful displays.

Every flag has a name. Every name has a story. And behind every display is a team of Rotarians and volunteers committed to making sure those stories are honored with the care they deserve.

Every flag has a story. 🇺🇸

For our Rotary Club of Corpus Christi members, Flags for Heroes is personal. Some sponsor a flag in honor or memory of someone they love. Others volunteer their time to help create a display that gives our community a place to recognize the people who have served, sacrificed, inspired, and made a difference.

As we prepare for this year’s Flags for Heroes, we asked our Rotarians to share why they participate.

Rotarian Linda Powell shared why she sponsors a flag in honor of her son-in-law:

🇺🇸This is my son-in-law, Lt. Colonel, John A Coulter, he served in Afghanistan, Dessert Storm, and he re-upped when his son was still serving. Retired now, he continues to serve as a consultant running military training in Germany, Asia and Hawaii. He is one of the kindest most dedicated American I know. So proud of him🇺🇸❤️ -Linda Powell
