Exploring is for young men and women ages 14 to 20 who are interested in learning about law enforcement careers and serving their community. Explorer teams compete all over Texas and nationwide in categories such as the ex*****on of search and seizure warrants, crime scene investigation, hostage negotiation, bomb search, first aid/CPR, misdemeanor and felony traffic stops, and domestic violence. arger events also include competitions in police obstacle courses, physical challenges and competitive shooting. CCPOA Explorer Post #0002 is sponsored by the Corpus Christi Police Officers Association in partnership with the Learning for Life faction of the Boy Scouts of America. The post was formed in 2012 to serve as a living memorial honoring CCPD Lt Stuart Alexander #0002 who was killed in the line of duty March 11, 2009
Members of Post #0002 hold themselves and each other to a higher standard than that of their school mates or neighborhood peers. In order to become a member, interested young adults must complete a detailed application. Upon submission of a completed application, applicants will be called for an oral interview and must pass a background check. All Explorers are expected to be role models by setting good examples, maintaining good grades and demonstrating behavior that protects the honor and integrity of the unit as well as participating in community service projects with the Post. The vast majority of community service projects and other assignments fulfilled by explorers for the betterment of the community are completed without compensation. Consequently, the Post holds several fund raisers throughout the year to cover the costs of competition entry fees, lodging, uniforms, badges, and other post equipment. Additionally, we accept kind contributions for services providing by the post, equipment donations or explorer sponsorships are also greatly appreciated.
