We had another great meeting with our explorers this morning. Explorers completed their 2nd Quarter Physical Fitness Test as well as a review of tools/equipment, hoseline drills, and hydrant operations.

CCFD Explorer Post 343 has lost an irreplaceable leader in Loney Diaz. Loney passed away on August 26, 2022, after succumbing to a medical emergency. He had just recently completed the fire academy through Del Mar College, and his intentions were to continue his training while serving in the Air Force. Loney had said he intended to pursue a career in the Corpus Christi Fire Department after serving his country.

The explorers and advisors of Post 343 have shared many memories with Loney and witnessed his leadership in action at every meeting he attended. At 17 years old, Loney was the Company Officer of Engine 2 and demonstrated the values and morals of outstanding leadership.

CCFD Post 343 asks everyone to offer prayers and condolences to the Diaz family in this troubling time.

Rest easy, little brother. Your name will never be forgotten.
