It's Meow Monday and this post is LOOOOOONG overdue! My husband and I moved from Texas to North Carolina and have been preoccupied with being in a new town and all of the new adjustments. We also unfortunately had a death in the family as well as had to put our family pet to rest π’ BUT, I am finally posting a huge update about all of our sponsored kittens and our project!
From the end of April when we started this project to the beginning of July when we left Corpus Christi, we were able to raise over $1,200 in monetary donations and over $300 in supplies! The money was used to purchase supplies and spay/neuter all of our strays. If you had sponsored a cat, that sponsor money was put toward their spay/neuter and any extra money we had went toward any cats that were not sponsored. We are proud to say that we trapped and fixed 40 cats, and found homes for 24 of them! The ones who were too feral to be homed were released back to where they were trapped (how TNR usually works) and are still being taken care of by the residents while being given their space. We still estimated having about 4 more strays to TNR in the complex but they were not seen as frequently and/or were our most difficult to trap. My partner, Haley, is fortunately still in Texas and is continuing to work with the last three/four who need to be fixed!
Toward the end of our project, we became more involved with not just our apartment strays but with the stray population in several other areas of Corpus Christi. The stray population is so bad in Corpus and many people were reaching out to us for help as they would find kittens or strays and hear about our page. Though I am no longer in Corpus, Haley (the animal whisperer and true inspiration to start this entire project) is still working every single day to help the stray population in Corpus and continues to TNR as well as rescue and find homes for many kittens and cats (even dogs on occasion!)
She is incredible at what she does and she will actually officially take over this page after this post to continue her rescue efforts! Her rescue is called Peace Love & Paws and she is always looking for support so please continue to show your support for her!
We can never say thank you enough to you all for supporting us through this big project, we are amazed at the amount of people who came together from all around the world (donations from Japan!) and helped us help these cats. Every stray that was fixed has prevented thousands of future strays ending up on the streets of Corpus! THANK YOU ALL!!
Check out the attached photos of some of our kittens who are being spoiled rotten at their furrever homes thanks to you all and remember to show your support to Haley and her rescue, Peace Love & Paws! πΎβ€οΈπΊ
