"Depart From Me... For I Never "Knew" You..."
Hey family, I'm doing a deep dive on our identity and relationship with Jesus. And the words that we never want to hear coming from Jesus., " Depart From Me... For I Never Knew You..." However, Holy Spirit really has been showing and revealing to me that there is nothing to fear if you understand why Jesus is speaking those words. And yes, it is around 2 close to 3a.m. and I will wait to post this.🤣😂🤣 Y'all know me.
6️⃣ “DEPART FROM ME…” — WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
Matthew 7:21–23 NKJV
[21] “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. [22] Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ [23] And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

“Depart from Me… I never knew you…”
⚠️ KEY INSIGHT
Jesus didn’t say:
“I knew you and lost you…”
He said:
👉 “I never knew you”
🔑 What “Knew” Means
“Knew” = intimate relationship👈🏾🎯
Not:
● church attendance
● works
● gifts
⚖️ The Issue
They had:
● activity without intimacy
● performance without relationship
🔥 🗣Why They Were Rejected(👂🏾listen)
● No real relationship👈🏾
● No true surrender👈🏾
● No repentance👈🏾
My Father & Child Analogy
Our identity is in God, Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit... Yes? Imagine a Father and Mother giving birth to a child that has the same DNA... same Identity, nature, character, and mannerisms. But due to sin the child image and identity is now distorted. Distorted to the point that the child, now teenager, is now unrecognizable to the Father because the child's heart is harden, full of rebellion, and the heart posture is no longer in alignment with the Father's will with in his home. And the child is now ready to leave the home or is kick out of the house. Would you compare dynamic, that moment to "Depart from me for I never knew you worker of iniquity..."?
🔑 Your Analogy (Father & Child)
Your analogy is powerful—but here’s the correction:
God recognizes His children, even when they struggle.
But in Matthew 7:
👉 These were people who claimed God, but never belonged to Him
INSIGHT/UNDERSTANDING
Jesus is addressing false believers, specifically those who claim him as "Lord" but do not obey the Father's will, relying on their own works rather than a true relationship with him. These people are depicted as active religious leaders or followers who performed miracles, prophesied, and cast out demons in his name, yet Jesus declares he never knew them due to their "lawlessness".
Key details about these individuals:
●Active in ministry: They appear to be part of the religious community, doing many wonders "in His name".
● Mistaken Identity: They are deceived, believing their good works or ministerial accomplishments guarantee them entrance to heaven, but they lack a personal, relational connection with Jesus.
● Practicing Lawlessness: They are characterized by a life that does not conform to the commandments of God, regardless of their public religious service.
● Self-Justified: Instead of relying on faith in Jesus for salvation, they try to justify themselves by their actions.
Ultimately, these individuals are not just non-believers, but false believers who claimed to follow Jesus while failing to obey.
🔥 7️⃣ ACCEPTANCE: “WELL DONE…”
Matthew 25:21NKJV
[21] His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
https://bible.com/bible/114/mat.25.21.NKJV
“Well done, good and faithful servant…”
What This Means
Not perfection—
But:
● faithfulness👈🏾
● obedience👈🏾
● relationship👈🏾
Here is a YouTube video showing an illustration of how we can have proximity and access to Jesus Christ, but never accept intimacy, relationship, and acknowledging that Jesus is King and Lord.

I hope that this help us to understand that we don't have to fear Jesus's rejecting us with those words, but to encourage us to prioritize Jesus in the center of our daily lives. Even in the smallest details to major things concerning our hearts. When you think🤔 about it... How many of us would allow strangers to enter our home? Why would we not intimately know the One we invited into our hearts?
