Did you know? Verbiage around mental health can actually affect those struggling.
When referring to an Individual who has lost their life to su***de, it's better to say that individual "died by su***de" instead of "committed su***de." The change in verbiage makes a larger impact on saving lives!

Research proves that the term "committed: has a negative connotation attached to it, making people who are in crisis feel guilty for their feelings. If someone feels like they will be met with shame instead of comfort and understanding when reaching out for help, they may never actually take the steps to receive help.

Don't worry, if you've used the term "committed" in the past, IT"S OKAY! Safe language is something we have to learn about.

UPCOMING EVENTS: The Cris’Hope Foundation

As we look ahead to our upcoming events, we are filled with gratitude for the support of our community. Because of your generosity and encouragement, The Cris’Hope Foundation has been able to partner with various organizations in our community.

This July, we invite you to join us for our Christmas in July Toy Drive, helping bring hope and joy to children and families. Every donation makes a difference and allows us to continue reaching those who need support.

We also invite you to join us on September 12, 2026, for our 8th Annual Walk for Cristian Su***de Awareness & Prevention Walk. Together, we walk in hope and remembrance of Cristian and all those we have lost to su***de in our community.

Through this event, we continue to raise awareness, encourage conversations about mental health, and remind others that Your Story Matters.
