Earlier this year, we decided to do something a little different for our 44th Annual Community Awards Luncheon.
We invited our WBA members to have a voice in selecting the people and organizations they believe have made a meaningful impact on the Westside of Corpus Christi through their past, present, and ongoing commitment to our community. Large Member of the year nominees were drawn from our WBA membership, with members also given the opportunity to write in an organization or business they felt deserved recognition.

The results represent the voices of the businesses that make up the Westside Business Association and the people who live, work, serve, and invest in.

1st Place: AEP Texas received 37.9% of the votes
2nd Place: Port of Corpus Christi received 20.7%
3rd Place: CITGO Fueling Good received 17.2%
4th Place: Valero Corpus Christi Refineries and Del Mar College tied at 10.3%

That’s what makes this year's Community Awards so special.
These aren't simply awards chosen behind closed doors.

These are organizations, businesses, and individuals selected by the people of the Westside. ❤️

Port of Corpus Christi 2027 Community Funding Opportunity Now Open!

The Port of Corpus Christi will accept applications for its 2027 Community Funding Program from October 1 through October 31, 2026. The program provides funding to eligible organizations, events and initiatives that support the Coastal Bend region.

Funding requests should align with one or more of the Port’s five Areas of Impact: Community Vitality, Education & Workforce Development, Economic Growth, Health & Safety and Environmental Stewardship.

Organizations interested in receiving funding are encouraged to review the program guidelines and submit their applications by October 31, 2026.

Meet the Candidates for County Leadership & County Courts

We are hosting a nonpartisan candidate forum and is inviting all candidates running for the following Nueces County offices:

Nueces County Court at Law No. 1
Nueces County Court at Law No. 2
Nueces County Court at Law No. 3
Nueces County Court at Law No. 4
Nueces County Court at Law No. 5
Nueces County Clerk
Nueces County District Clerk

Our goal is to provide WBA members and the broader community with an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates seeking to serve Nueces County and to better understand the responsibilities of these offices and the issues that affect our residents, businesses, and community.

We are extending this invitation equally to all candidates running for these offices. All participating candidates will be given an equal opportunity to participate.

The WBA is aware of today’s announcement regarding Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi and the Antonio Garcia Arts Center.

The Westside is a community we care deeply about, and we recognize the importance of the Garcia Arts Center and the role it has played in our neighborhoods.

While there are still many conversations taking place, we want our community to know that we have been and will continue to work diligently behind the scenes to explore a path forward that serves the community and the Westside.

We appreciate the many people and organizations who care about the future of the Garcia Arts Center, and we remain committed to being part of the conversation and working toward a solution for our community.

From the wonderful mariachi music and delicious BBQ from BBQ Man to celebrating our outstanding honorees, it was truly a special day filled with community, fellowship, and recognition.
