Gratitude for Charlie Bhakta giving 9 years in service as a Del Mar College Foundation board member. Rolling off the board due to term limits, worth noting and celebrating that during his board time, 13,000 students received more than $18.8 million in scholarships and $1.1 million was awarded to 3,427 students via emergency aid grants. Couldn't happen without people like Charlie!

Celebrating Sandra Alvarez two-year tenure as the DMC Foundation's board president. As she transitions into a past-president role on the board, worth sharing & celebrating how the last two years have achieved record years in philanthropic giving and most importantly, how the Foundation has helped people in our community start and earn their education.

In her two year tenure, $6.2 million was awarded in scholarships and emergency aid to 4,207 Del Mar College students with another $5.6 million toward elevating the excellence of DMC programs.

A proud DMC alumna, Sandra began her educational journey at Del Mar College, making her service on the Foundation board all the more personal.

Big thank you for your service!

We had the pleasure of hosting Del Mar College’s President’s Council members and guests at our Oso Creek Campus for this year’s Fall Reception!

The highlight of the evening was a panel discussion featuring Dr. Mark Escamilla, Cheryl Sanders and Jeff Olsen, moderated by Matthew Busby. The conversation offered an inside look at the College’s priorities, the evolving needs of our students and exciting opportunities ahead for Del Mar College and the communities we serve.

Thank you to our President’s Council members for your generosity, leadership and continued commitment to advancing opportunities for our students. We were honored to share this evening with you.

A worthwhile journey, labor of love and example of philanthropy making a difference... where $1.5 million was donated by people, foundations and businesses in our community to provide a Del Mar College education for people in Rockport & Aransas County.

ROCKPORT — John Jackson called it a seven-year journey.
