South Texas Catholic The South Texas Catholic is the official publication for the Diocese of Corpus Christi.

In the Diocese of Corpus Christi's evangelization efforts we serve as a medium for the bishop’s messages; a venue to report activities of parishes, institutions and organizations; a way of keeping the faithful abreast of national and international issues facing the church; and a vehicle to promote the work of diocesan departments, programs and services.

Let's all unite with the faithful around the world in prayer for Pope Leo XIV!

"This morning, the Holy Father announced he will undergo surgery for a lung nodule in the coming days. The bishops of the United States join with the faithful and all people of good will in praying for his good health. May the hand of Pope Leo's surgeons be guided by the divine physician Jesus Christ. Please find a moment today, as I will, to offer a prayer for Pope Leo and his care team." - Archbishop Paul S. Coakley, President, USCCB

Red Mass at Corpus Christi Cathedral: Following a tradition dating back to the 13th century, Bishop Mario Avilés celebrated a special Mass to invoke the Holy Spirit for the upcoming judicial year. Judges, attorneys and all those working in the legal field were invited. In his homily, he emphasized the importance of justice for a peaceful coexistence. The evening ended with a reception, where some actors from The Chosen, already in town for the Interfaith Celebration for the Coastal Bend Food Bank, participated.

Amy Baily, an Incarnate Word Academy alumna (class of 1994), visited her school today to share her career story. Growing up in Rockport and Corpus Christi, she moved to the UK, where she spent years as a professional ballerina, acrobat, and aerialist before earning acclaim in West End theater productions. She portrays Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward, who becomes one of Jesus’s followers.
She encouraged the high school students to discover their gifts and not hold back out of fear. “I discovered my first love for acting and music here at IWA,” she shared. Baily, who now lives near Houston and in England, encouraged the students to network: “Make friends – not to be popular, but to ask yourself, how can I serve this person? What can I give them?”
Amy Baily is among the actors from The Chosen attending the Interfaith Celebration this Saturday, October 10, from 11 am to 1 pm at Whataburger Field.
Admission is free, and non-perishable food donations are greatly appreciated to help local food pantries serve neighbors in need.
