Corpus Christi Literacy Council 17% of adults in Nueces County cannot read well enough to function in our society.

Low literacy keeps people in low paying jobs, is linked to poverty, and to poor health. CCLC serves adults, 17 years and older who are not enrolled in public schools. We promote literacy; We teach adults to read and train volunteers tutors to do so. We join others in literacy efforts through the Literacy Coalition of the Coastal Bend.

Dr. Reinhardt,
Thank you for taking the time to put together such a wonderful presentation honoring Dolly Parton with a special emphasis on the power of reading the message you shared about the importance of reading the joy it brings Dolly’s imagination library program and her generosity rooted in a lifelong love of books truly resonated with everyone in attendance.
The activities you incorporated created an energetic and uplifting, atmosphere, reflecting the positivity and excitement that reading can inspire your engagement with the audience, made the event both meaningful and memorable.
I also want to thank you for promoting and arranging the children’s book donation box which will remain in the classroom throughout the fall semester the books collected will be delivered to a children’s program in need and your support and making this possible is greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your dedication and for helping us celebrate literacy and such an inspiring way!
