We are proud to announce Esperanza “Hope” Andrade as our Honorary Chair for the 2026 HWNT State Conference.

An HWNT trailblazer honoree, Hope has spent her career breaking barriers and elevating communities across Texas. From making history as Texas’ first Latina Secretary of State to leading the Alamo Trust, the nonprofit responsible for the daily operations of the Alamo and the implementation of the transformative $550 million Alamo Plan, she continues to shape the future of one of our state’s most iconic landmarks.

Her distinguished public service includes roles as Texas Workforce Commissioner and Texas Department of Transportation Commissioner. Beyond public leadership, Secretary Andrade is also the co‑founder and partner of GO RIO San Antonio River Cruises and a partner in the San Antonio Missions minor league baseball club.
Her leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering commitment to Texas make her the perfect voice to help guide this year’s conference.

🌟 Please join us in welcoming Dr. Lucy Villarreal to the HWNT Corpus Christi Chapter Board of Directors as our newly appointed Education Chair! 🌟

Dr. Lucy Villarreal is a certified leadership coach, trainer, speaker, and behavioral analyst with decades of experience in education, leadership development, and professional growth. As a certified coach with the Maxwell Leadership team, she has dedicated her career to helping individuals and organizations grow through effective leadership, communication, collaboration, and innovation.

Her distinguished career spans more than 30 years in public education and nearly a decade in higher education, serving in roles including classroom teacher, counselor, principal, university educator preparation director, and Assistant Dean at Texas A&M University–Kingsville, where she became the first Hispanic woman to serve in that position within the College of Education and Human Performance.

Today, Dr. Villarreal serves as CEO of Collective Learning Consulting and Vreal Coaching, continuing her mission of empowering leaders and creating opportunities for growth and success.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Dr. Villarreal is a proud Lifetime Member of the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas (HWNT) and has long been a champion for the advancement, education, and empowerment of Latinas throughout Texas.

🌟 Please join us in welcoming Dr. Marisol Vasquez to the HWNT Corpus Christi Chapter Board of Directors as our Chair-Elect! 🌟

Dr. Marisol O. Vasquez is a business and healthcare leader with more than 37 years of professional experience. She earned her BBA and MBA from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi and received her Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from University of the Incarnate Word in May 2026.

Her doctoral research focused on closing the leadership gender gap by examining how women overcome barriers to advancement through leadership development and training. She is also the founder of She Rises, Advancing Leadership (SRAL), a purpose-driven organization dedicated to empowering women and girls to become confident, resilient, and impactful leaders.

We are excited to have Dr. Vasquez join our Board and look forward to the knowledge, leadership, and passion she will bring to our chapter as we continue advancing and empowering Latinas throughout the Coastal Bend.

Christine's journey is a beautiful reminder of why our LIP Scholarship Program matters. While we may only be able to help young women at the beginning of their college journey, our hope is that we help open doors, ease burdens, and remind them that an entire community believes in their dreams.

🎓✨ HWNT Corpus Christi Chapter Celebrates a Remarkable Latina Leader! ✨🎓

Please join us in congratulating Christine Damienne Sánchez, one of our proud Latinas in Progress (LIP) Scholarship Program recipients from the 2019 & 2020 cohorts, on earning her Master of Arts in Anthropology from The University of Texas at Austin, Class of 2026! 🤘🏽🧡

Christine's accomplishment is a beautiful reminder of what is possible when determination, education, and perseverance come together. From being a young Latina with big dreams to now walking across the stage at one of the nation's most respected universities, she continues to inspire those who follow in her footsteps.

This is exactly why the Latinas in Progress Scholarship Program is so important. While a scholarship may help a student begin her college journey, the impact reaches far beyond financial assistance. It serves as a reminder that an entire community believes in her potential, is cheering her on, and is invested in her success. Through LIP, we strive to help young Latinas take those first steps toward their dreams, knowing that education has the power to transform not only their lives but generations to come.

At HWNT, we believe that when we invest in young women, we invest in the future of our communities. Christine's success is a testament to the importance of creating opportunities, opening doors, and ensuring that our young Latinas have the support they need to pursue higher education and achieve their goals.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. 🇺🇸
This Memorial Day, the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas Hispanic Women's Network of Texas-Corpus Christi remembers the heroes who gave their lives in service and sacrifice so that we may live with freedom and opportunity.
May we never forget the courage, dedication, and selflessness of our fallen military members and the families who continue to carry their legacy forward.
As we gather with loved ones today, let us also take a moment to reflect with gratitude and prayer for those who served our nation with honor.
