Recap of our current youth programming! The past few weeks we have been busing planting 8 new fruit trees at Garcia Arts & Education Center including Figs, Pomegranate, Peaches and more! Not only are the students learning the correct way to plant trees and seasonality, they are getting their hands in the dirt and planting themselves to enjoy for years to come! Thanks to Subtropical Nursery for suppling the trees.

The West Side Helping Hand garden is looking great as well and still producing tomatoes, eggplant, kale, peas, carrots, dill and radishes! We are looking forward to resuming programming this week.

Visit us Every Wednesday from 5-8pm at the Downtown Farmers' Market to learn more about our programming AND find tons of local goods from meats and breads to produce and honey!

Tickets are now available for the 2024 Farm to Table Dinner & Fundraiser! 👨‍🍳🍅🍝🍋🍇🫒🥗

As you well know, this event is not only the Coastal Bend's Culinary Event of the Year, but also our annual showpiece of what "access to, education about, and advocacy for local, nutrient dense foods" can produce in South Texas! This not-to-miss affair will be held on March 24, 2024, from 4-8PM at 3700 Ocean Drive, showcasing A Taste of Italy, in Your Own Backyard.

There are so many ways to show your support: as a guest, an event sponsor, or even a contribution to the silent auction. We would be honored to have you show your support in the way that makes the most sense to you and your team. Proceeds from the night go directly to benefit all of Grow Local South Texas’ programs and the furthering of our mission.

This year, The Coastal Bend Chefs, a chapter of the Texas Chefs Association based in Corpus Christi, TX, will expertly prepare a multi-course, delicious meal with Italian inspiration. All ingredients will be selected from within a 200 mile radius of Corpus Christi. Join us before dinner for a traditional cocktail hour, stay for a wonderful meal, live music, a silent auction and decadent desserts.

What are Veggie Vouchers?
The first 100 children (5-17yrs) at market can sign up for $5.00 worth of paper veggie vouchers to be used during that market to purchase fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs or food producing plants. Veggie Vouchers not only put new, healthy foods directly into the hands of our community’s kids, it also gives kids choice in their own diets. While shopping at market with their veggie vouchers children have the opportunity to try new foods, decide what healthy foods they want to try, and speak to local farmers to find out where their food comes from. 🎟️🎟️🎟️🎟️

Vouchers are distributed at special events while supplies last. Children must be present to receive vouchers. Vouchers must be used during the market date printed on the voucher. Vouchers cannot be redeemed for cash. Vouchers can only be used in exchange for fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs or food producing plants at Grow Local Farmers' Market.
