🦤 Whooping cranes are showing up in places Texans don't normally expect to see them.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reported Wednesday that an estimated 540 whooping cranes wintered along the Texas coast during the 2025-2026 season, including at least 57 juveniles and 143 adult pairs.

While that's slightly below last year's estimate of 557 birds, wildlife officials said the difference falls within the survey's margin of error.

Some fun facts. The actually are between TX & and do not migrate long distances like the . The snout are regional/local butterflies. The Monarch are the ones who migrate farther and go full circle from Mexico north to Canada and then back south. There's NO SET MIGRATING PERIOD FOR SNOUT....BUT Snout move between Texas & Mexico as they are doing RIGHT NOW 🦋 They are ALL flying around together rn because we have Queen and some stragglers of Monarch that stay behind during migration... that's so 😍. It's like our ancestors all hanging out together. Different nations. 🥹 Also, another little fun fact, the Monarchs are in their breeding season. 🦋 Thank you 💛
