Happy Dolly Parton Day 💝 9/25 Today we are celebrating Dolly Parton. We are celebrating her life because she dedicated it to sharing her blessings with others. Dolly Parton’s commitment to philanthropy came from a vow she made to herself to help others as a way to overcome her experiences from growing up in extreme poverty. She developed a deep empathy for the struggles others can experience. But also just that she had a straightforward desire to give back. One of her biggest accomplishments in life was creating the famous charity, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. This organization started in 1995 as a direct tribute to her father who never had the opportunity to learn to read or write. The organization ensures that children would have early access to books regardless of family income. There are so many philanthropic programs that Dolly Parton created and maintained. Another way that Dolly Parton helped our world was by using the royalties from her songwriting to invest back into communities. For decades she quietly funded purchasing band uniforms for dozens of high schools across Tennessee.
