A scout is reverent, a scout is brave.
Today we remember the terrible September 11th attacks, the victims and their families, and the brave men and women who ran toward the danger while everyone else was running out. The first responders, the leaders, and the everyday heroes who stepped up to protect others and prevent even more tragedy. It’s a strange feeling to both solemnly mourn and also celebrate courage and strength in response to the same attack, but I find myself equally sad for their families and proud of the everyday heroes who stepped up that day.
Those are the same values we try to teach our Scouts: be brave, look out for others, and lead when it matters.
Hug your families, hug your friends, remind people you love them. Be reverent, be brave. Never forget.
