Well when the wood doesn’t cooperate you t plan B. Instead of a leaning Christmas tree I now have a short tree and a snowman ornament. Also an oak and Tx Ebony tree.

This months challenge was a platter or plate. Some beautiful items were made! In addition we had a talk about making flowers.

We had more beautiful work to show off at the last meeting! Love how my little penguin turned from egg to penguin when I saw the grain and coloring of the wood popping out as I turned it. I removed the foot after our meeting using someone’s egg reversing chuck, pvc pipe with holes drilled in and sliced to them so it had flexibility and tightened with wire clamps.

We hand a great learn and turn last sat! Two great bowls. Took sharpening and a 1st attempt at making a bolle for a Belgian American Club of Texas!

Next months challenge is a chess piece. This month Waukeene Vinson demonstrated these amazing offset turned birds. Members stepped up and turned some fantastic boxes after last months demo by James Carter of Easy wood tools.
