dear softball,

i miss you. i miss early morning games with wet grass and cold hands. i miss late night games and watching the lights get turned off. i miss championships, but also losers brackets. i miss comebacks. i miss both the victories and the losses. i miss praying with my girls before a game. i miss the superstitions. i miss the clarity i used to gain by stepping between those lines. i miss the game. i miss everything you ever taught me.

i wish i never had to end my softball career so soon. i’d give anything in this world to put on my cleats one more time. i will forever love the game and will always be thankful for everything it ever gave me.

Sad day today in the softball world , Umpire Clarence Davis has passed. Those who knew him, he was a very kind and excellent umpire and a pretty good pro football player. He will be missed.
