O Dreiburgen, O Dreiburgen, How lovely is your music!

Dreiburgen Yule is tomorrow, Saturday, December 6th! Who is ready to play some games and participate in the Dreiburgen Games Championship?

From Hunker Houser to Bean Bag Toss to Giant Jenga and more, there will be plenty of games for all ages! The winner of the most games will be the new Dreiburgen Games Champion.

And that’s on top of all the other amazing activities taking place tomorrow. With the Dreiburgen Bardic Championship, Dreiburgen Culinary Championship, Table Decorating Contest, Gallavally’s “A Time of Giving” Arts and Sciences Competition, Potluck, and Caroling, this year’s Yule, “A Musical Gala,” is a must attend event!

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1. Site access is 3 PM sharp. We are unable to let anyone in early as there is an event directly before us at the same location.

2. Redlands Christmas Parade: The Redlands Christmas Parade starts at 6:00 PM, this means that parking will be a premium for anyone arriving late.

3. Parking: There is limited parking in the site parking lots, one at the event site and one across the street. Street parking is also allowed except along the parade route or in designated police parking. Signs may indicate no parking during weekdays, but this does not apply on the weekend. We will have parking signs and parking lot attendants.

Dreiburgen Yule is this Saturday!

And with Yule, comes the Dreiburgen Culinary Championship and Table Decorating competitions!

The Dreiburgen Culinary Championship is a Period Food competition! Although the overall theme for Yule is “A Musical Gala,” the Culinary Championship this year does not have a specific theme. That means you can cook any period dish you would like! Let your imagination run wild.

Next, is the annual Table Decorating contest. However, unlike the Culinary Championship, the Table Decorating Contest does match the theme of Dreiburgen Yule. Make your tables as musically themed as you can for a chance to win this contest! Musical Holidays, Musical Feasts, Musical Instruments, Musical Food... the possibilities are endless.

Speaking of contests, The Canton of Gallavally is sponsoring an Arts and Sciences competition entitled “A time of Giving.” Bring a “musical gift” that your persona would have either given or received. Documentation is not required, but it is encouraged.

Finally, what’s a Dreiburgen Yule without a potluck! Bring your best dish to share, as we are continuing the tradition of bringing your best food and not the most food. We also ask that you label all ingredients so that food allergies may be avoided, and it is understood that due to medical conditions, there are people who do not participate in Potluck feasts.

Dreiburgen Yule will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Redlands (100 Cajon St., Redlands, CA 92373).

O Dreiburgen, O Dreiburgen, How lovely is your music!

Dreiburgen Yule is coming soon. And with Yule, comes the annual Bard of Dreiburgen competition!

As this year’s theme for Yule is a “Musical Gala,” the same theme will be used for the Bardic competition. All songs are welcome for the competition, be they an original composition based upon a period style, a performance of a period piece, a dance, or even an SCA based parody (or filk if you prefer) of your favorite song! If you’re not a musician, that’s fine as stories and poetry about music or musical performances are welcome as well.

If you’re not interested in competition, don't worry, you’ll still get a chance to sing as we’ll be doing caroling as well! From the comfort of your own table, of course.

Finally, the stewards are still interested in having musicians play background music between activities. If you are interested, please reach out to either Baronessa Illuminada Eugenia de Guadalupe or Lord Chartain Trevino. Contact information is on the Facebook invite.

O Dreiburgen, O Dreiburgen, How lovely is your music!

That’s right, Dreiburgen Yule is just around the corner. This year’s theme is “a musical gala!” To that end, all of our wonderful activities and championships, with a couple of exceptions, will be in that theme. Look for more posts regarding the specific activities and championships as we get closer to the event.

The day’s activities will include:

- Table decorating contest (judged on the theme “Music”)
- Dreiburgen Culinary championship (period food competition)
- Bard of Dreiburgen competition (judged on the theme “Music”)
- Dreiburgen Games championship (including some musical games)
- Arts and Sciences Competition - The Canton of Gallavally is sponsoring a competition entitled “A time of Giving.” Bring a “musical gift” that your persona would have either given or received.
- Annual potluck.
- Caroling!

Musicians! The Event Stewards are seeking those who would like to play background music between activities. If you are interested, please reach out to the stewards: Chartain Trevino or Baronessa Illuminada Eugenia de Guadalupe.

Tomorrow night, the Gallavally Arts and Sciences Workshop is back.

Come join us as THL Brennos Ap Doolin demonstrates how to make bow strings. This will be a great event for all of the archers out there! The workshop will be held at Lord Chartain Trevino’s home in Hemet.

Workshop starts at 7:30 PM. Children are welcome!
