🔥 We need YOUR help! 🔥

The Corona Fire Department has partnered with SWCA Environmental Consultants to update the City's 2021 Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP). This important plan helps identify wildfire risks and guides projects that make our community safer and more resilient.

The 2026 CWPP will build on previous planning efforts by identifying new priorities for reducing wildfire risk throughout Corona. Because every community is unique, your input is essential. Your feedback will help shape the strategies and projects included in the updated plan.

📝 Take a few minutes to complete the 2026 Corona CWPP Community Survey and help shape the future of wildfire preparedness in our community.

🔥🏘️ Could Your Neighborhood Be Corona’s Next Firewise Community? 🏘️🔥

Wildfire preparedness starts with neighbors working together.

Communities like Dean Homes and Eagle Glen have already become recognized Firewise USA® Communities—taking proactive steps to reduce wildfire risk, strengthen preparedness, and protect what matters most.

Now it’s your community’s turn.

🌿 Becoming a Firewise Community is a collaborative effort that brings residents, fire agencies, local leaders, and stakeholders together to create safer, more resilient neighborhoods.

✅ Build a local Firewise committee
✅ Assess wildfire risks in your neighborhood
✅ Create an action plan to reduce hazards
✅ Organize community clean-up and education efforts
✅ Track volunteer hours and preparedness projects
✅ Work toward official Firewise USA® recognition

🔥 Small actions can make a BIG difference when it comes to wildfire safety.

Firewise Communities help:
🏠 Protect homes
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Protect families
🚒 Support firefighters and emergency responders
🌳 Preserve open spaces and natural resources

The best time to prepare is before wildfire season arrives.

💬 Would you like to see your neighborhood become a Firewise Community like Dean Homes and Eagle Glen?

📍 Let’s continue building a stronger, safer, and more wildfire-resilient Corona—together.

🔥 Wildfire Preparedness Week is Coming to a Close 🔥

As we wrap up Wildfire Preparedness Week, remember—preparedness doesn’t end here. It starts at home.

The Ready, Set, Go! program gives you a simple way to stay prepared and protect what matters most:

🟢 READY – Be Prepared
Create defensible space, harden your home, and have an emergency plan. Know your risk and sign up for local alerts.

🟡 SET – Be Alert
Stay aware of fire weather conditions and be ready to leave at a moment’s notice. Pack your “go bag,” load your vehicle, and make sure your family knows the plan.

🔴 GO – Act Early
When a wildfire threatens, don’t wait. Leave early to stay safe—roads can become congested and conditions can change fast.

🔥 Wildfires are unpredictable—but your preparedness doesn’t have to be.
Take a few minutes today to walk around your home, talk with your family, and make a plan.

💬 Tell us: What’s one thing you’ve done this week to prepare?

🚒 Together, we can build a safer, more fire-resilient Corona.

🔥 Wildfire Preparedness Week: It’s the Embers You Don’t See 🔥

When people think of wildfires, they picture flames—but the real danger often comes from above and ahead of the fire.

💨 Wind-driven embers can travel miles ahead of a wildfire
🏠 They sneak into vents, roofs, eaves, and under decks
🔥 And they are one of the leading causes of homes igniting during wildfires

The good news? You can take action right now to protect your home.

👇 Start with Defensible Space + Home Hardening 👇

🏡 Zone 0 (0–5 feet): Your home’s ignition zone
This is your most important area—where embers land first.
• Remove mulch, leaves, and anything that can burn
• Use gravel, concrete, or pavers instead of combustible materials
• Keep this zone clean, lean, and green

🌿 Zone 1 (5–30 feet): Reduce fire intensity
• Space out plants and trees to prevent fire spread
• Remove dead vegetation and dry fuels
• Keep grass short and hydrated
• Trim branches away from roofs and structures

🏠 Harden Your Home: Block the embers
• Install ember-resistant vents with 1/8-inch metal mesh (this size helps block embers while still allowing airflow)
• Clean roofs and gutters—don’t give embers a place to ignite
• Use non-combustible or ignition-resistant materials when possible
• Screen or enclose areas under decks and eaves

🔥 Bottom line: You can’t stop embers from flying—but you can stop them from starting a fire at your home.

👀 Take a walk around your house today:
Where could embers land? Where could they get inside?

Fix it now.

💪 Small actions = big protection

🔥 Wildfire Preparedness Week is HERE, Corona! 🔥

If a wildfire started near your home tonight… would you be ready?

Wildfires move fast—but being prepared puts you one step ahead. FireSafe Corona is challenging YOU this week to take action and protect your home, your family, and your community.

💪 Start with these quick wins:
🌿 Clear the “zone zero” around your home—remove anything that can burn within 5 feet
🍂 Clean out gutters and remove dry leaves and debris
🏡 Trim back vegetation and create defensible space (0–100 feet)
📦 Pack a go-bag—don’t wait until evacuation is knocking at your door
📲 Sign up for emergency alerts and know your evacuation routes

🔥 Here’s the reality: Most homes don’t ignite from flames—they ignite from embers. That means the work you do around your home TODAY can make all the difference TOMORROW.

Let’s take this week seriously. Walk your property. Make a plan. Talk with your family.

Because preparedness isn’t just personal—it protects your neighbors, your firefighters, and your entire community.

Are you ready?

This past Saturday, FireSafe Corona was proud to participate in Trails Day—a community event dedicated to celebrating our local trails, promoting outdoor recreation, and encouraging stewardship of our natural spaces. 🚒🚓🌲🚴

We were honored to join Corona Police, Corona Fire, Park Rangers, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, and Corona Mountain Bike Advocates to connect with the community, promote outdoor and trail safety, and share important wildfire prevention tips. Events like Trails Day help bring awareness to responsible trail use, environmental protection, and the importance of keeping our open spaces safe for everyone.

It was a great opportunity to engage with residents, answer questions, and highlight the importance of defensible space and fire-safe practices—especially as we head into fire season.

Thank you to everyone who came out, supported the event, and took the time to learn how to protect our trails and our community. We’re stronger when we work together!
