As East Albemarle Regional Libraries transitions to the NC Cardinal System, patron holds and resource sharing services will be temporarily unavailable beginning June 16, 2026. Services are expected to resume in early August.
⏰ Last day to place holds: Evening of June 15, 2026
🚚 Final courier delivery run: June 18, 2026

ATTN: All Libby lovers! As previously announced, Currituck County Public Libraries is “moving.” With the dissolution of EARL (East Albemarle Regional Libraries), we will be joining the statewide NC Cardinal system.🐦📝📚

Libby users who are already signed up will continue to have access to their accounts using their current library card number and PIN. Existing library card accounts will transfer to Cardinal and remain active, and patrons currently using Libby should not need to make any changes to continue accessing their accounts.

As part of this transition, new library cards issued over time will include new card numbers. Please note that Libby History/Timeline data will not transfer once the migration from EARL to Cardinal begins.

If a patron replaces their current library card with a new card number and would like to maintain their Libby Timeline, they will need to contact the library for assistance before making the switch.

This transition is an exciting step forward, and also a process that will take time. Our staff members are here to help and answer any questions you may have along the way. Thank you for your continued support, patience, and cooperation as we work together to make this transition as smooth as possible for our library community.
